I know you are probably on that "new study high", but maybe you should learn more about the beliefs and reasons why before you start cramming your ideas down other people's throats.

Witnessing at school
by I-follow-the-narrow-path ini was in class and by these two women (one who was a christian and the other student i am unsure of).
i asked them, randomly, "do you know much about jehovah's witnesses?
" -- they both said "yes" and the non-christian said "i had a jw friend and he really hated it... he disaproved of what they taught" -- i started to talk about shunning and disfellowship.

Need evidence of others with "god's holy spirit"!
by bythesea ini sent my husband off for the week with a 7 page letter outlining some of the isssues i have with the wts.
its been a long time coming!
the letter went into a lot of different areas, touching on all the big points and admitted how fearful i have become of sharing this information with him or anyone else because of not wanting to lose my friends and family over it all.

As far as their "world-wide preaching work" almost every religious organization has missionaries that travel the world to spread God's word and help in the communities that they settle in, so that is nothing new.

Is it time to come out ?
by troubled mind ini have been considering my options lately.
i feel like i need to talk to my chilren about my true feelings about being , or in this case not being a jw any longer.
my kids are all going to be home together, the first time in over two years, this next month .

I think it would be the perfect opportunity to express your feelings to your childrren. Who knows maybe they are feeling the same way but are only in because they are scared of losing family relatinships. I agree with you that you should keep it on a personal level and not on scandals or doctrine issues unless it is brought up by them. Good luck !!!

How do you deal with JW's knowing they will shun you?
by JH ini went to the grocery store yesterday, and i saw a jw who was looking at me with a sort of sad face.
i said hello, and he didn't reply.
so why does he stare at me for if he knows he won't reply to me when i say hello?

Ouch, some people can be so hurtful ! Like a simple "hello" would have hurt for them to say. How are you supposed to be encouraged if they can't even say a single nice word? Frustrating !!! I think you did great, you were nice, the bigger person. I run into witnesses all the time, I live in a really small town. I always look them straight in the eye and say hello with a big smile, sometimes they reply back and sometimes they keep going. At least I know who the bigger person is when I walk away. Please don't avert your stare though, it will make them feel like you are hiding something. Look em in the eye, you have nothing to be ashamed of.

WOW !!!! It is great to see someone finally going after their throats using the legal system concerning molestation. I hope these people win their case and other victims come out in full force, kindda like what happened with the Catholic Church. Snowball effect.

I was a struggling single mom, and since I had limited income, I was propsitioned to share a hotel room with another single mom sister in the congregation. She didn't have a credit card so she asked if I would reserve the room with mine and then she would just pay me in cash for her share of the room. After the room was charged on my card a week before the convention, she backed out saying she already promsed another couple earlier that year that she would share with them. They were a couple that had extra money, and I was upset to be in that situation, and she felt no responsibility to pay anything towards the room. Then my daughter and I were not asked out for dinner once the whole convention. I was really hurt. After the convention was over I was asked to a bar-b-que at a couples house later that night where almost everyone was going. Well, apparently on the way home everyone changed plans and met up at a restaurant, and no one showed at the couples house. I had a cell phone so it wasn't like they couldn't have contacted me. I was always getting invited out when it wasn't convention time, so it wasn't like I didn't have any "friends". I finally saw their true colors and disrespectful ways.

Did you know any jw who made money off "immoral" businesses?
by snarf ini married into a jw family, my husband, now ex, was df'd at the time, but reinstated.
after he was reinstated he started doing business with a strip club, cleaning it on a daily basis.
at first he made me do it, but i had major issues, there were naked pics posted everywhere, and a porn shop with all sorts of toys that were sold in the club as well.

Thank you all for your kind responses, although I must say the entire experience made me such a stronger person.

What Used To Bother Your Conscience?
by minimus inmany jws were trained to have "sensitive" consciences.
very little ever bothered my conscience.

This ties in with the gossip thread, but it was the gossiping that drove me bonkers. When I was studying, I always heard about the members of the cong. and I also knew pretty much everything the other studies were doing and what their progress was.
Also, the way some of the children were treated. Being spanked by their parents in the other room, but you could here the slaps and the crying...sadened me so much...

Thankfully, I am free of that family now, but I do know that they are still in good standing with the Org. Trust me though, it played a huge mind game with me.

Luna - This was an all nude club and they wanted me to wipe down the poles everyday......YUCK, it still gives me the creeps!!! Plus, it sucked cause all the money I made cleaning, my JW hubby spent most of the money back at the club during business hours.
