Swan: WOW! I was never aware of any Tacoma Dome Scandal. The Tacoma Dome has been home to our convention for years (not this year however). So that's why it was a "donation". I remember one year I never bought a parking ticket and was never asked about it. I felt guilty on the third day and paid for one anyways. Guess I'm a real sucker!

Parking tickets
by lost_light06 ini remember a few years back we use to have to buy parking tickets for the dc.
later i think they made it a donation (mandatory, of course).
now they dont charge for parking at all, in fact all your supposed to have is you id badge visible so they know youre a true jw.

by lost_light06 inso my wife is pushing me to go out in the ministry this weekend for the special dc invite tract work.
i really do not want to go in fs, haven't been out in years.
i don't even plan on counting the time if i do end up going.

I am allowed to go. I'm not on any restrictions as I haven't committed any offenses (they know of). I'm just inactive - which begs the question if I'm on restrictions from FS for being inactive how can I become active again?
All my wife did was ask if I wanted to go out in FS. She hasn't blatently said I have to go I just know her reaction if I were to say no. The big possibility is that she is going to want to go in FS Saturday but when it comes to waking up early and getting us and the kids dressed and ready we'll accidentally sleep in, it's happend many times before.

If the facility owners wanted to charge then just let them deal with it at the gates? Why go through the extra effort, and extra middle-men, by doing it through the congs.? Or was it just a money making scheme?

Blondie: I don’t know that it will or won’t, it’s a crapshoot. If I refuse to go, or even make an excuse, it could send her into super JW mode. If we go out she may actually like it (bleeekkk) and again send her into super JW mode. All I know is in the past (before my change in heart/mind towards the JW religion) when we did go out in FS we would usually only go out one or two times and then slip back into inactivity. My wife asked me if I wanted to go in front of some other JW’s and I couldn’t very well answer “Hell no I don’t want to go!”, I just told her “if you want to”.
Frankie: I don’t have to ask my wife for that!

I’m really just trying to keep the peace. Keep in mind, my wife has not been in FS for about as long as I have. I could try the “head of the house” routine but it would just end up in an argument. When I first told her my newly discovered feelings and thoughts on the JW religion a while back she went crazy on a super-zealous JW trip, trying to get me to study for and make every meeting, read every mag, daily text every day, etc. She calmed down over a while and we slipped back into our typical irregular meeting attendance, no study routine. What I’m trying to avoid by “keeping the peace” is her returning to that super-zealous JW trip again. The only reason she wants to go in FS is they were talking about the special tract work in our book study and I think she was feeling guilty for not sharing in it. I’m hoping if we do end up going in FS she will remember how ultra-boring and uncomfortable it is and how much work it is with small children. Then maybe she won’t ask to go again for awhile.

So my wife is pushing me to go out in the ministry this weekend for the special DC invite tract work. I really do not want to go in FS, haven't been out in years. I don't even plan on counting the time if I do end up going. But in order to keep the peace in our household I might end up going. So, last night I was thinking that I might make my potential FS outing a covert apostasy campaign. I noticed when a sister showed up at my door to place this tract she came to our door alone, so I figured I could get away with quietly saying something to the householder but I don’t know what. Any ideas? I also figured I would write the freeminds.com and/or silentlambs urls on the tract.

How long do they tolerate you being "spiritually weak" in the beginning...
by Check_Your_Premises in...before they give up on you and just label you as a theocratic slacker/outcast?.
i have picked up that many in our congregation are considered weak or irregular.
it appears that they are "encouraged" but eventually they are given up on and considered a "bad association".. my wife, even when she is at her most dubbed out, only makes field service twice a week, and she can only keep that up for a couple weeks.

My wife and I been inactive in our current cong. for most of the 3 years We have been there. We're spuratic in meeting attendance (We'll go regularly for a few weeks then miss a whole bunch). We have never recieved a sheperding call or visit and no one mentions our inactive status. In our old hall it was much the same except we had 2 sheperding calls and the brothers regularly talked to us about being more active.

Why do the majority of "newbies" disappear ???
by kid-A ini have noticed that, in general, there is a "core" of regular posters on jwd that have been members for several years.. however, it seems the vast majority of "newbies" disappear after a couple posts, days or perhaps a week.
how many "welcome" or "introduction" .
threads have we had here where the new member disappears within a day or so, never to post again?

I’m on this board every day but I don’t post as much as I would like. Sometimes I will write up a whole new topic and won’t post it because I’m afraid it contains revealing information that would identify me. It is very frustrating because I have many experiences, especially lately, that I would love to share but feel I can’t.
I personally feel many of the newbies are reading the forum regularly but are afraid to take part. When I first joined the forum I had been lurking for a while. I was really in a state of shock from all the information about the org. Taking that step of just lurking to becoming and active, contributing member was difficult. I realized that I was no longer just a doubter but was somewhat active as an apostate. I didn’t feel evil but my JW training told me what I was doing was evil. I guess I felt like I was like Anakin Skywalker joining the dark side. I think many newbies feel that same way.

Masturbation quotes
by 5thGeneration ini didn't want these buried deep in the favorite quotes thread because they are just too dang funny and/or weird.
*** watchtower 1973 sept 15 pp.564-5 breaking free of self-abuse-why?
that masturbation is abnormal and unnatural is also indicated by the fact that abnormal, mentally deranged people are notorious masturbators.

"That masturbation is abnormal and unnatural is also indicated by the fact that abnormal, mentally deranged people are notorious masturbators. Somewhat similarly, The Bremerton Sun (Washington) states that many mentally disturbed priests and nuns are chronic masturbators."
Thats such a load of ish. Since most people masturbate (oh come, you do it, you know you do. Who do you think your kidding) you could say that people who eat at McDonalds 4+ times a week are chronic masturbators therefore masturbation leads to un-healthy eating habits. Stupid!
"Did you know, for example, that mothers and fathers who stroke the genitals of their fretful babies to keep them quiet are unwittingly encouraging them to become masturbators later on?
Whaaa?? Do people actually do that?
self-induced masturbation may make it easier and more tempting for one to engage in mutual masturbation, which is a form of homosexuality.
So when my wife and I ummmmm, ya know, diddle each other does that mean we're gay?
Funny stuff!

"If You Needed A Blood Transfusion Would You Take It?''
by minimus inthat was the question that i was asked this morning by the nurse before undergoing my procedures at the hospital.
she said, "some people can't take blood because of their religious beliefs.
i used to be a jehovah's witness and if needed i will take a blood transfusion".......now that was the first time i ever expressed those words!

I would if need be. I have thought more of what I would do if one of my kids needed one since I would have to fight against my wife and the rest of my JW fam. in order for my kid to have one. In fact I would probably lose my wife and JW fam. if that happened.
