Surprisingly I’m not. Just got back from the District Convention myself and it only further solidified in my mind that their teachings are a bunch of BS. As you pointed out they have been saying “the end is near” for decades. They’re resorting to the same old scare tactics they are so well known for. Everything in the convention was a scare tactic.

You are paranoid, but so am I. That’s why I usually refrain from replying to those posts. I even refrain from posting some experiences I’ve had because I don’t want to be identified. I’ve gone as far as altering a few inconsequential details just in case someone may be able to identify me (kind of like TV shows or articles where the names and places are changed to protect the innocent).

So I went to the DC recently. Excuse me while I puke. . Ok, thats over. Same old crap, different year. We had a GB member give the final talk, and while trying to keep awake I noticed the same fluff BS they always give as to why JW's are gods chosen people I noticed there was a real lack of fact and situations. What I mean is there were many examples of how people were persecuted, how the faith was challenged...... but also how no facts were mentioned. They purposely don't mention HOW the faith was chellenged or WHY the faith was challenged.. Malawi was brought up a few times but nothing about why they were being "presecuted" (read Crisis O Conscience) and how the society was so hypocritical in that instance. All the rest was real fluff....no new information. Needless to say I was bored out of my mind. My wife (who is a devout JW) was even counting the seconds until the day was over. I guess I'll have to wait to see as to why "Deliverance" is "At Hand".................................................still waiting

Super Hot DC

it's supposed to be 103 in portland for the entire dc this weekend.
i wonder if they'll be so kind as to call it off for all the elderly and yound children so there aren't any cases of heat stroke in the middle of the sessions?

I wonder if they'll be so kind as to call it off for all the elderly and yound children so there aren't any cases of heat stroke in the middle of the sessions? NAAHHH! The latest message of doom and gloom is much more important than some old mans life right? Ahh well! We'll see him in paradise I guess. Of course if he decides to stay home in his AC'd house instead of going to the all important convention he'll be certainly marked as weak, not weak in the sense that he's 80 years old and can't handle the exhaustian extreme heat brings, no even worse spiritually weak.

I learned that real quick. And she doesn't question me. But it doesn't make it any less confusing. She seems to really enjoy our "worldy" life as she is the one that makes most of the arrangements. We still hang out with our JW friends occasionally but lately it has been more with the "worldy" than the JW's. We're stuck in this limbo. She doesn't want to leave the borg. she still thinks it is the true religion but she likes living life to it's fullest and haveing fun (not JW fun, quiet partys watching a G rated movie or studying the WT, but real fun.)

Holding true to form we slept in and didn't go out in service. Plus we are going to a "worldy" party this weekend. This really just confuses me more because when I don't raise any issues or mention my true feelings on the borg. my wife and I do MORE worldly things than ever. We miss MORE meetings and do LESS studying. As soon as I mention my feelings...... BAMM.....wifey changes to super JW mode and we're back at meetings and studying.

Parking tickets
by lost_light06 ini remember a few years back we use to have to buy parking tickets for the dc.
later i think they made it a donation (mandatory, of course).
now they dont charge for parking at all, in fact all your supposed to have is you id badge visible so they know youre a true jw.
