Do you know what your last name means and where it comes from...?
by Justahuman24 ini have always been interested in what last names mean and where they come from and if someone famous in the past is related to us because of the same last name.
my last name comes from greek but my family is not greek.
it dates back to the year 700ce and it was around the time in europe when people were starting to get last names - i'm talking about the general people not monarchs.

I'll vent. My ex wife sent me a happy valentines day text this morning. First we never celebrated valentines day when we were married but now all of a sudden she does and second she's my EX WIFE! I don't know which she likes more, sticking the knife in or twisting it.
PS: It's no coincidence valentines day shares the same initials as venereal disease.

if it's the truth..
by BlackSwan of Memphis ini'm finding online people who tell me that they believe the jw's are the truth.. yet they are living a life which says the exact opposite.
i'm not talking about people who are trying to fade.
these are people who specifically say it's the truth.

My ex-wife is one of those people. She says one of the reasons we split up is because I no longer want to be in "the truth". Yet, as soon as we did split up she started living a "worldly" lifestyle..... hanging out with "worldy" people, celebrating holidays, etc, etc. I asked her if she had changed her mind about the witnesses and she say "no, I just don't want to live that lifestyle right now but I still believe it's the truth". It's infuriating on so many levels and I fear for my kids if she ever does decide to be a "good witness".
Pisses me off.

Did Prince Just Say Goodbye to the Jehovah's Witnesses?
by ithinkisee inhttp://allied.blogspot.com/2007/02/prince-says-goodbye-to-jehovahs.html.
any music fan who watched the super bowl last night could rightly walk into work this morning and say, "did you see the bears and colts play football during prince's concert?".
(reprinted from the link above).

Last night they showed a clip of Prince's super bowl hafltime show. During the performance of purple rain, between some of the lyrics he mouthed some words as he looked to the sky. I'm no lip reader but it looked to me like he said "thank you Jehovah". I'm going to try and find a vid of it on YouTube.

Here are questions you can ask.
If a scientist presents compelling evidence that disproves a popularly held scientific theory, is that scientist kicked out of the scientific community and shunned by his colleagues and family?
If a well respected scientist makes an outrageous claim with no scientific evidence in an attempt to prove a theory that is known to be absolutely false does the rest of the scientific community simply accept his outrageous claim with no attempt to confirm it?
That is the difference between scientists and the JW "new light" doctrine. -

Dog praised for life-saving call
by needproof ina us dog has won an award for saving her owner's life by dialling a phone number that alerted emergency services to her owner's diabetic seizure.
belle the beagle triggered a call to an ambulance crew by biting on her owner, kevin weaver's, mobile phone.
the dog was trained to detect potential diabetic attacks by licking and sniffing mr weaver's nose to check his blood sugar levels and pawing him.

Name "UNWRITTEN" Rules That JWs Are Supposed To Follow
by minimus inas with the scribes and pharisees, there are a number of unwritten rules that witnesses are supposed to follow.
here's a couple : "worldly" kids in society depictions are shown quite often wearing their baseball caps backwards.
jehovah's witness youths would not want to imitate that "look".

A few years back there was a young pre-teen girl in nearby hall that had some sort of sickness (can't remember what it was) that made her cough..... only the cough sounded like a seal bark, no joke. Her family made her go to the DC the entire 3 days. She sat with her mother in the upper hallway around the Tacoma Dome. Every minute or so she would cough (seal bark). I felt so bad for her as she was obviously very embarrassed by the whole thing.
