fade_away, Deep love and respect for your brother and all who knew him really shine through in your post. So sorry for your loss.
This thread is asking athiests what's the best way for us to deal with death? The afterlife and resurrection fantasies are nice wishful thinking, but the real world needs something just as comforting.
Consider this recent topic? It helped me think about losing close family members in quite a different perspective than we were once taught.

No endorsements here, but Women for Sobriety may be a worthwhile female-only environment to avoid the many challenges New Chapter mentions for women in AA. Instead of 12 steps, they have 13 affirmations which appear helpful for recovering JWs, too.
Many links for "Non-cult Pro-Recovery" at http://www.orange-papers.org/. Again, cannot offer any endorsements but there's lots of non-AA resources to wade through there.
Addicts typically eat poorly. Most suffer from nutritional deficiencies. Since your niece qualifies for government assistance, is it possible for her to access a nutritionist who can help her heal and rebuild her whole body? Rehab therapy and/or meds can only go so far if she is physically run down from the inside out. Fresh fruits and veggies, low carbs to avoid blood sugar swings, and plenty of water daily to stay hydrated are so key even for non-addicts. Maybe a vitamin/mineral or protein supplement? Women in particular need extra iron… and B-complex can do wonders for people under stress, yet alone recovering from addiction.WhereWasI, best wishes for strength and peace for your family as you advocate for your niece, and especially for her healthy outcome.

Your Thoughts, Please (Seriously)...
by AGuest inmay you all have peace!.
on occasion, dear ones post questions on the board that have a "legal" undertone.
sometimes those questions are just trying to get a sense of what questions such one should ask (perhaps of an attorney), sometimes they have to do with very ordinary events, and sometimes they really do require in-depth legal assistance/analysis.

This:
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye."
And this: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/Home/TermsOfUse
If the discussion board's Terms Of Use don't satisfy this sad pi$$ing contest amongst resident NPDs, nothing else can or will.

Yes I did enjoy the performance.
For their songs!
It was louder than necessary for the venue. But then no one had heard them play-out for so long. Like, 15 years (!)
The crowd was about 90% male… Or as we say here in North Jersey, a "sausage fest."

~SueSoundgarden made their thunderous return to the stage this summer with a run of North American tour dates throughout July. It's been fifteen years since they last performed outside of the US. Now, we'd like to announce Soundgarden is headlining the 20th Anniversary of the Big Day Out Festival in New Zealand and Australia. Soundgarden played their first BIG DAY OUT in 1994 – the year Superunknown was released. In 1997, they returned for an encore. 2012 will bring the group’s long-awaited return down under.
