JWs vs. Jesus Christ
by R.F. inchoosing life made a statement in another thread saying that just mentioning jesus too much will get you a concerned look from other jws.
i thought "oh how true that is!
" the thing that is intriguing to me is the fact jws are so quick to state that they are the closest thing to first century christianity.

The antichrist WT Society shoves Jesus down in a hole, demands the sheep to worship the sales organization, and lets him out once a year to make a public mockery of his sacrifice.
When I went back to studying and asked for a copy of "The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived," I was astonished at the reluctant response.
First, the pioneers exchanged furtive glances with each other. Then the discouraging questions:
"Why do want *that* book?" "What's your sudden interest in Jesus?" "Do you know, it's just a series of old Watchtower articles put together, nothing more."
My mom had given me the book when it was introduced, and it got misplaced during a house move. I just wanted a replacement copy for my library. Honestly!
I felt like a criminal just for asking. The queer behavior of these full-time ministers of Jehovah was just another nail in the Watchtower's coffin.

Punished by our friends for the letter we sent.
by LennyinBluemont insome of you may have read our exit letter from august of last year which we sent to about 50 of our close jw "friends", many of whom we had been very close to for decades.
we just told them what we had learned regarding the un scandal and provided all the documentation.
we never disassociated ourselves, nor have we been disfellowshipped.

Sorry to hear this Lenny, but also very heartened that you didn't base your business prospects on the "friends" who are, in reality, no friends at all.
Surely you can recapture the monetary loss with worldly clients who require and respect your security services and don't give a rat's ass about religious affiliation.

P.S.: I'm with Blondie about obligating them to any contracts in place. Use the courts if you must. -

Munkafats just sparked my memory about a great NZ movie, "The World's Fastest Indian" about Burt Munro, the record-setting Indian motorcycle racer.
The DVD release I rented included extra documentary footage from the early 70s.

Manure Question
by betterdaze inwarning: this topic is not about the manure coming out of the watchtower.
i have a healthy garden, well-tended.
it enriches my spirit mostly and the table as well.

Thanks everyone for responding on this lowliest of subjects.
I have access to both chicken and horse manure and it's looking like chicken wins... unless OUTLAW wants to send me some old Watchtowers to compost instead, LOL!
mrsjones, I first read about bat guano in "Life Above the Jungle Floor" (now out of print) and it appears bat guano keeps the South American rain forests going just fine. In fact it is crucial.
PEC, that's 2 for chicken shit.
Open mind, I heard that it could "burn" too, all bird shit is highly acidic, and that's part of why I'm asking.
dvw, thanks for mentioning phosphate content, and I SO appreciate your scientific method.
rebel8, Warlock has a PM. And I'm glad Mary's table made you tear up (in a good way) :–) Believe it or not, my mother used to make me take the hair from hairbrushes to put around roses... something about niacin content in human hair... she was big on organic gardening and we recycled everything, still do.
Mary, I love tables to explain facts. And you answered both my questions. For all my plants. Thanks so much!
Hortensia, I grew up listening to the rooster's call, they're not just mean, they're freakin' loud and annoying, especially on Sunday mornings!
Honesty, you seem to know your shit!
Valkyrie, I don't get snails in my garden... not even a wayward slug. Black snakes, now those I get, and when one slithered into my kitchen last September I GOT HIM.
nvr, (?) I don't understand your response. This is not a debate; it's about gardening know-how.
OUTLAW, are you suggesting Watchtower publications are not good for living things?
bikerchic, best wishes to you and hubby on your first garden, hope you've enjoyed yourselves as I have so far. And thanks for the bat guano info — it totally jives with what I read in the book I mentioned at the outset. The bat guano in Costa Rica was not protected in caves, but in hollow dead trees instead. This was the backbone of the entire jungle... everything from the tiniest bacteria up to and including mammals and the whole growth cycle of the rain forest was based on lowly bat guano. Amazing, really.
Thanks again to you all for your assistance.
