Non-Bible Believers: What verses still have value to you?
by Open mind inok, if a bible believer wants to join in too, please refrain from citing john 3:16 or verse like it that clearly call for a christian perspective to be appreciated.. .
i'm looking for kernels of wisdom that transcend religions and the necessity of faith.. .
to get things started:.

Do not give what is holy to dogs,
and do not throw your pearls before swine,
or they will trample them under their feet,
and turn and tear you to pieces. (Matthew 7:6)

Having fun with the Elders (Humor,Humour)
by StoneWall ina friend and i were discussing ways to really have fun with the elders or make them cringe or very uncomfortable.. here are a couple we came up with:.
1) take cash and get a money order to send into playboy magazine as a x-mas gift for a year's subscription and give.
them the elder's name and address to mail it to.. 2) in larger cities for a price you can get a nice looking striper give them a strip-a-gram at their residence or place of.

Why would you want to harass someone like that? I hope you're not serious.
Juvenile antics.
Thank you, StoneWall, for reminding me why I could never get baptized into the JW's.~Sue

MY BROTHER-IN-LAW HAS DIED
by Mary inthis is one post i had always hoped i would never have to do, but after a long and brave battle, my beloved brother in law has died.
i have done a couple of threads on this in the past, so many of you know the battles he was facing.
he had been diagnosed earlier this year with myelodysplastic syndrome and the mortality rate of this disease is quite high.

So sorry Mary, my sincere condolences to you and yours.
Mr. B has a dear cousin suffering from the same disease, and knowing what he's been through (even with blood transfusions and finally locating a stem cell donor) we can understand what a painful ordeal it has been all along.
I am beyond anger that the WT minions would add further burdens to your family's loss! Their refusal to accept a wife's loving eulogy is wholly unjustified, disgracefully un-Christian, and downright inhumane.
Wishing you all strength in the days ahead,

Has President Obama Disappointed You?
by minimus inis he what you expected?
any second thoughts?
?.

He's done as well as could be expected considering his background (let the reader use discernment) in addition to the administration he inherited.
Consider the alternative: McCain could've keeled over by now and we'd all be twitching and b*tching about incompetent President Sarah Palin.

Thanks for posting this story megs, it really made my day!
(Not to be a downer... but I cannot help thinking that had his family been Malawian JWs back in the '70s... he may never have been born.)

Where does NEW LIGHT come from?
by sacolton inthe watchtower has said over and over that they are not inspired (even though their earlier publications claimed that they were modern-day prophets), so where exactly does "new light" come from?
if they are not inspired by god, why should anyone listen to them?.
