My given name is Nicole, but I always thought it was too sophisticated for me, so I go by Nikki which suites me better. I don't hate my name, but I do not think I look like a Nicole, I do look like a Nikki (this is what people usually tell me anyway).

Growing up, we always used to go to Crivitz, WI about 3 times a summer and we always went to the Sunday meeting in Wausuakee, WI. Its a little po-dunk town in northern WI. As a kid, because we went there so much, it wasn't that bad because I had made friends there. So, it was kind of a reunion. My dad the elder, would have himself scheduled to be "the out of town speaker" the Sunday we would attend.

a friend that we could trust, that we could confine in.

I think I had some real true friends, but since they were still into the org so much, they did not associate with me because they thought that that was the right thing to do. I am still looking for one in particular...shes hard to find. She was my best friend for 9 years, I still think of her all the time.

What Music WERE You Allowed To Listen To?
by gaiagirl inok, so we've talked before about music which was not permitted in our families, leaving us to listen to .... what?
most people in my congregation generally approved of olivia newton-john, but became suspicious of her work after grease, when she bacame a "bad" girl.
one song "landslide" contained the lines "minor desires became major needs, my needs won't be denied", which was taken as proof that she had gone over to the "dark side".

My parents were really strict about musice, but anyone remember that song, "You don't have to take your clothes off, to have good time"?....
I was allowed to listen to this song because my mom said, "they are saying you do not have to take your clothes off, so its a clean song"...Ha!
Looking back, I used love the song "Secret Lovers" but was was not allowed to listen to it. I still hear it on the radio, and blast it!!!!!
Oh, the former JW life as a teenager.

The DNA will tell all. I also heard he said it was accidental death today. I read that he said "I loved Jonbenert very much", "she was a sweet little girl, and pretty". I read that his plan did not go the way it was suppose to yet she was strangled, beaten, raped? And his plan did not go right? I do not know if this is the guy, sure seems weird. There was an interview from his brother yesterday too...he did not believe his brother would do this, "hes a great guy, has three beautiful children" etc..."he did not even live in Boulder, Co".
I lived in Colorado when that happened, it was all people talked about...That beautiful little girl. Yes, I think that Patsy Ramsey appeared to go overboard with "Beauty Pagents", but we are on the outside looking in, maybe little Jonbenet loved doing the pagents...who knows, we weren't apart of that family. I am just saying, and I am not being partial, but little 9 year old daughter is a cutie. But, she is not in beauty pagents, if she wanted to be, Id let her. Anything can happen at any given time, thats the scary thing whether in beauty pagents or not.

Brenda and everyone else, thanks again and again.
We are in Illinois so its not legal here yet but my dad in law smokes everyday and he also says it makes him feel the best. Yet, he has smoked regularly all his life.
I am collecting all this information, I have learned so much already...

Hi Forscher,
I appreciate your comments. Sounds like your wife has a positive attitude. As for my father in law....
See, hes kind of created and bed for himself and he has to sleep in it too. Married my mom in law, got divorced. Remarried a 2nd time, got divorced. Then he moved up by us and now lives as a roomate with my mom in law. He started dating a woman, they have now broken up after a year because he thinks hes a dead beat. Well, perhaps he expects that she help him with money...maybe thats wrong. In his mind, he thinks its acceptable. Now, his dad and several people in the family are involved. Its gotten to be this scandelous thing. Yet, for me, I just want him to feel better, and perhaps if he did, he would have a new zest for life. But, he does not seem to listen to anyone, yet I have never really told him what to do or given him advice (well, if he asks, I will give him my opinion) on this sickness. Hes in bed all day, and wakes up around 3-4:00. My husband and I are on a bowling league with him. The others in the family think, well why does he feel OK to bowl every Tues night? Yet, he is pain alot when he bowls but hes trys to be dependable because its a commitment, they do not understand that. So, if my husband and I treat him respect, there are people in the family that can't stand this. Yet, others just continue to make him feel bad about himself, and I do not think thats going to help him.
My father in law is a good man but hes never really had direction. Somehow I am going to try to help him out with or without the other support from his actual children. Maybe it will make a difference, maybe it won't. We will see.
Thanks again everyone...Nikki
