I love tatoos! I have a sun with fire (typical girl thing to do) around it, around my belly button. Then I have a cool butterfly (another typical girl thing again :)) right above my butt! Can't wait to get more, in places where they could be hidden because I am in Sales.

The Most Humiliating Thing That Happened To You As A JW...
by Country Girl inwhat was the most humiliating thing that happened to you as a direct result of being a jw?
for me it was when i was made fun of at school for wearing dresses down to my knees, and tights, when mini-skirts and pantyhose were all the rage.
i remember that i got this orange plaid jumper dress (dates me) from a friend, and i would hide it so that i could change into it in the bathroom at school.

Sorry this post may be kinda long...I discovered changing clothes in high school. Now note, my parents bought these clothes for me but I was not allowed to wear them to school. I had several humiliating experiences. When my parents found out I was changing at school (there was a girl that was studying to be a JW and she wrote a letter to my parents and I did not know this), my mom picked me up. I noticed she was acting different. I got home, my dad tells me to go to my room. I got beat with a paddle. Then my mom starting punching me, I fell, she then started kicking me. When that was done, my mom cut 8 inches off my hair. I was 15. Then they wanted me to tell them that I loved them afterwards.
When I was 17, and graduated early and started regular pioneering. There was an older man interested in me (I too had a crush on him, but he did not know and I did not know he was interested in me). I was young. He called me out of the blue when my parents were on vacation and told me how he felt. We never did anything. He came to my house to talk to my parents while I was at a volleyball party. He wanted to pay for an apartment for me, and make plans to marry me when I turned 18. After their meeting, my parents put the house up for sale. They had a goodbye party for us, everyone knew why we were leaving. At the party, I was dancing, trying to be happy in front of everyone. My dad comes up to me in front of everyone and yells at me for the way I was dancing (I am a goofy happy dancer, tryong to be funny, but I have rythmn), its all on film. I was so embarrased and humiliated especially the goodbye party was for us, and everyone knew why we were leaving the congregation! It was a huge scandal!
Today, I am 32 (same age as that guy was, when I was 17), and I am thankful I never married him but my parents showed no understanding, no emotion. I was so desvastated and hurt how they treated their only child. I was a good kid, just wanted to do normal teenage stuff. That is how I describe my childhood, pure humiliation! Oh well, life has been great for years now, now I can be a part of my childrens stable childhood, thats my reward.

Muslima...
My parents disowned me because I left the org. Have not seen my dad since Oct 1992, mom and I reunited after 8 years in 2000. One time before 2000, my dad was out of town and mom invited me to come stay with her. The day before I was suppose to leave, she called me at work and cancelled the trip because she felt guilty about associating with me (I am the only one). It completely broke my heart, it hurt so much. What you son is doing is absolutely wrong. In fact, it appears he knows its wrong too but he is too brainwashed to come out and say it out loud. If you want a relationship with your son, find ways to do it. Perhaps, send letters often to his work. Keep showing your love for him and your grandchildren by writing, maybe you will win him over eventually. I figure sending letters to his house may not be good, since the wife may throw it out. But, please do not go back to the JW cult because of what you son said, its not right. I thought of going back many times just because of my mom and dad and I did not. Eventually, mom came to her senses and left the org too. She is divorced from my dad who treated her like crap all these years (especially after I left)! How terrible. It was a dream come true to reunite with her, truly I never thought it would happen. Maybe you son will come to his senses?

I am a nut, bolt, and screw procurement specialist per blue prints, large quantity. I communicate with suppliers from Taiwan and China on a daily basis. I tell them, "You shi order on time, you ship me good pots" in Taiwanese broken english. Ha Ha. The only difficulty is that I am a girl, so some of the engineers, purchasing managers, are men and they assume I do not know a damn thing, so thats when I take the opportunity to show off!
Been doing it 8 years and still going strong!

All time favorite movie for me is "Empire of the Sun" when Christian Bale(?)(was in the latest Batman) was a kid. This movie affected me so much, probably because my mom and dad disowned me when I was DF'd, the story is about war, when there was a British part of Japan, got separated from his parents, etc. It still affects me when I see it to this day. Maybe some of you have seen it?

I went to 13 different schools so until I got to 6th grade, no one knew before this time. In 6th grade, I started at a new school, kept my JW secret until I had to go out in service in my own neighborhood, and knocked on the door of these 2 twin boys, Ricky and Nicky. They were nice to my face at the door but when I got to school on Monday, it was turmoil for me...horrible. This lasted through 8th grade. Things changed my freshmen year, the twins were not so popular anymore, and they left me alone. I just had to deal with the JW kids that went to my school.

My mom remarried in 83 to my stepdad, they went to Hawaii for the honeymoon. They scheduled to go to a Kingdom Hall there and lo and behold, George Benson was there....They took tons of pictures together. His little boy was with him too. A friend of mine ran into George in Scottsdale, AZ too and called us up because he mentioned my husband to George (my husband is big into Jazz, and George is contemporary Jazz) blah blah, this was a couple of months ago. As far as I know, he still is. I also did here he was DF'd too.

High School Prom
by Larry ingreetings folks - it's been a while since i posted anything.
the other day i was talking to my daughter about her prom - dress, limo, etc....and it dawned on me that i never went to my prom.
obviously being a jdub was a big reason why i didn't go or had any desire to go.

Never went, dreamed of going. I once snuck to a social hour in 8th grade in the afternoon, somehow my parents found out and when I came home I got beat. My daughter and son will go though and I can't wait to live it through them.

I got off easy because my father is an Elder
by Pwned ini was reading the story of james caputo on his site disfellowshipped.org when i came to the realization that i received favorable treatment because of who my father is.
i was 17 when i told my father that i didnt want to be a jw anymore because i just didnt really believe in it, i think i said something along the lines of i just don't "feel it" anyways he told me that since i was a minor i would have to keep going to the meetings and that i would have to tell the elders how i felt.
so a few days later 2 elders who had known me since i was 6 years old came over and talked to me, although they made it clear from the outset that it wasn't a jc.

My dad was an elder too, mom a pioneer. I just left on a Monday in October 1992, went out in service all with my mom, said see you later and never returned. Now, I would get 30 calls a day before it was announced that I was DF'd, but up until then, they all tried to talk some sense in me.
My dad would call me every other day asking if I had commited fornication. I would honestly tell him no everytime but that when I did, I would tell him, Ha. After three months, he called, he asked me, I said yes, I was then announced as DFd at the next Tuesday night meeting. That was it. Never had to meet with anyone. No letters. Haven't seen dad since October 1992. Mom and I reunited in 2000, since October 1992. She no longer is a JW. Shes free too.
