I was in the modern day drama in 1987or 88 (close enough), I was 13 years old at the time. I played a worldly girl named Dolly Winters. She went to school with a JW boy. So the story between Dolly and the JW boy was one thing. My parents played in the same drama as JW couple on the fence, in the end they decided to serve Jah 100% and as for Dolly.....you know the drill....she started studying with the witnesses and became a loyal servant of Jehovah !!! Yahoo.
It was days, weeks, of preparation. I have to say I had fun, it was a really good time actually. But I did not have fun because of "serving Jah", I had fun because it was like being a celebrity in JWville there for awhile. What 13 year old would not like the attention, you know?

Positives of Growing Up JW
by Pig ini dont think any of us are glad we grew up in the org.
but i was thinking about people who get cancer, and if they are lucky enough to beat it often they will say that they were better for the experience.
before they got cancer they were stressed because they had to work extra hours in a shitty job to make ends meet, the kids were nothing but trouble and they spent their lives wishing that time would go faster, that week would be over, that the year would be over.

I attribute that I have always been in sales since I left the org in 1992.
I figured if I can sell the JW literature, then I sell anything!

This was on the news 3 days of last week, maybe more....

As a JW, what did you do on Christmas Day?
by Magwitch ingrowing up a jw, we always had family from out of town visit or we would go visit family.
it was fun to get together with my other jw cousins over christmas.
(however, it was hell going back to school in january as the only girl without a new sweater).. as a married jw though it was a different story.

As much as I know my parents were fanatical JWs, the holidays were some how the time, my parents actually felt sorry for me. They always made sure I got new clothes during xmas break so that I had something new too...
One year, they woke me up at 2am in the morning and said "surprise" we're going to Disney World...
We never got together with family...mom, dad, and I were the only JWs besides a great aunt...
We did however get together with JW friends on holidays too...and yes I was one of those kids that had to go door to door on certain holidays also.
The new clothes brought me a temporary happiness tho, and to this day, it still does.

Hey fellas, as you got older, into your early 30s, did you start finding women between their late 30s and late 40s attractive?
by miseryloveselders insomedays my dad would look at what i still call an older woman, and he'd call her attractive.
i'd look at him like dude your nuts.
i'm thinking just cuz your older doesn't mean its wrong to find younger women attractive.

Another woman here...Im 36 soon to be 37. I definitely get hit on more as I get older than when I was younger. Not bragging at all. Its nice to have to this happen, I m close to 40 and it definitely helps my ego hee hee.
I do think its because of confidence, life experiences, etc.
I think that confidence is a big turn on for most.

Wow, welcome! After I was done reading your post, the 1st thing that I thought of was perhaps your dad put "lousy father" because of the guilt he felt raising you that way because in 2008 (and b4) he has doubts? I think you have courage, and what you went thru was diffcult.
I was born in. My mom left the religion in 2000 (became one at 17) - it messed with her mind, she tried to commit suiside also, twice. She does not know how to be a part of normal society, she escapes with meds, and alchohol. Its sad. But, she is in my life, so I will take it. But, she always feels guilt, she has a hard being around me because of her guilt, it consumes her. I wish she would let it go, and at least make an attempt to make her life great. It seems at this point, she does not have it in her.
Best wishes to you...make your life GREAT.

I personally think jeans that fit like a glove look best.
