Yes, I do believe in a Creator. The arguments presented concerning how we go here by chance to me are not plausible. I do not at all believe that God will destroy all who are not affiliated with Jehovah's Witnesses as I know far too many "Wordly" people who are honarable, caring, and kind. By contrast I know too many Jehovah's Witnesses who aren't. As to just who God is and who he chooses to include we all including myself have alot to learn.

"saved us millions of dollars" , "additional savings" , "consolidated savings of money.

Dear Met: What you said about the possibility of being steered to an outside firm to purchase bound volumes and CDs seems to be a very real possibility. A WBTS Representative recently told us that he can't remember the last congregation he was in whose contributions were equivalent to the literature received, and this is at the prices given 11 years ago prior to the voluntary donation arrangement! He added that "We're not getting free subscriptions anymore and maybe that's the reason." He then proceeded to comment about how best to use our material resources and ended it by saying, "But the Society will never beg for money."

During a recent talk our District Overseer made this statement:
"For some lying becomes habitual, for others its coerced. Very very few individuals are truthful under any circumstances. As Jehovah's people we are always truthful, we don't lie under any circumstances especially toward those who are entitled to know the truth."

Practical Change in the Org - How?

I think there's an entire faction of elders and brothers in position who have very serious doubts such as questioning the blood isue, certain prophetic dates, the political heirarchy, etc. Quite a few believe the Society goes beyond the things written. The organization at present is stagnating because of this. Many are going through the motions, something like a charade.

The Morality of Teenage Baptism part2
by metatron inwitness teenagers are subjected to unrealistic standards and demands.
cut off from family association by watchtower extremism, at a time when guidance is.
sorely needed.. such young people are frequently set on a course of personal disaster because of.

The policy of encouraging children (teenagers) to be baptized is one in which a young person is made to feel forced in order to be socially accepted within the Witness frame work. A 15 year old is un-baptized and is asked questions like, "Why Not?" "Haven't you made the truth your own yet?" "There must be something wrong with you, can I help?" "Look at all your friends-this one was baptized at age 11, this one at age 13, and your best friend so and so was baptized at age 12, so what's wrong with you?"
Here he's never been on his own, has up to this point lived a sheltered existence, for the most part only knows what he's been taught by his parents and is somehow made to feel pressured into this critical, binding decision. At the assemblies most who are being baptized are children Unfortunately this has alot to do with unhealthy types of pressure.

And so, They must Beg (WT Nov.1,02)

time for the watchtower to beg for contributions!.
the nov. 1 wt has the usual article with a great big grey box covering two pages.

The scriptures dealing with the Israelites giving a tenth have been referred to quite a bit lately by the WBTS. Although this probably won't be made into a hard fast rule these scriptures dealing with tithing have definitely been used to apply more pressure to contribute. What's interesting is that when Moses needed money for the Tabernacle and when Solomon needed contributions for the Temple they never had to resort to such disturbing tactics-there was more than enough given.

I remember hearing about how back in the 1920's the brothers needed coal to heat Bethel and there wasn't enough money so they simply prayed and left the matter in Jehovah's hands and low and behold there was more than enough. Also remembered is how at assemblies brothers would proudly bellow about the fact that never have we resorted to begging for money like the churches, never have collection plates been passed, no one is ever put on the spot and made to feel forced to contribute. Times have changed. Someone on this board said that the friends speak with their pocketbooks. That's true and its showing that all of the coercion, arm twisting, as well as begging isn't working.

M.T.S. Brothers

After knowing dozens I can tell you that what is stressed and impregnated into the minds of these young men is Obedience, Obedience, & Absolute Unquestioning Obedience to The Faithful & Discreet Slave. Brothers go into this program with a flair or some color in their personality and come out 2 months later like they've been stamped out of a cookie cutter! The Society then sends these men off to where there's a greater need. This program is scary, and I've successfully deterred several from going.

Burning Bridges--a Bad, bad habit.
by LDH inone of the most important lesson an xjw needs to learn is how not to burn bridges.. what exactly does it mean to "burn a bridge" in the first place?.
well, consider if you crossed a wide chasm suspended on a rope bridge and decided you would never need to go back.
why not burn it?

Re: Matty
Don't use the phrase, "Easy Going." Say that your mild, long-suffering, and slow to judge. Say that your a person who likes to take time to carefully gather all the facts before rendering an opinion. If someone says, "But its clear, such and such is the case, why don't you take a stand?"-Give a Neutral reply like, "I have to think about it" or, "I'm thinking of how best to deal with the issues presented" etc. etc. Build for yourself a reputation as one who is quick to listen and slow to judge. This is a hard position to knock!
P.S.-Aren't the word games silly?
