What this means is that the world came to an end in the 20th century, its just everyone has yet to release it. Hopefully people will wake up soon and release the world is over the the JW's were right all along. Until then all we can do is wait on Jehovah.

by ><> ini read in your profile where you state that evolution is the reason for your leaving the organization.
that's interesting.
care to elaborate and does this mean you no longer (if you ever did) subscribe to a belief in creationism?.

I have an open mind to the subject, I will look into if I find the time.

Well, it was the stand in general, but after more research I have decided the only rational view to take is one of agnostic or athestic view point. That is my offical stand now.

Frist you must understand the nature of evolution, it is not random as commonly believed. Evolution is a process of continual improvement. Is their a posibility that God played a role in guiding evolution? Posibily, but the results would be no different than if he didn't.

There are lots of articles put out by the WTS stating that higher education is evil and true christians will live a life of poverity and ignorance and dedicate any spare funds to the WTS.

Thats correct, I don't believe in any form of creationism. While still an active JW I attended university in the US and got a B.S. in Physics from Western Michigan University, I've always believed that evolution was a scientificly varifiable fact, but it wasn't until going into my new area of study that I released how my biological support their is. I never thought this was a reason not to believe in creation per say, but once I consider the 'offical' position of the WTS I released that I could not believe in evolution and remain an active JW as well. Click on my came and go to topic history and look at my frist post, I explained my reasons for leaving. Feel free to ask any questions you like.

Is this a site for active JWs or for ex JWs?
by ><> inthere's alot of jw "bashing" here.. if you have left the org., please inform me on what it was that convinced you to depart?
we have friends that are jws and we want to know how best to deal with them.
some are constantly giving us literature.

I've read many things about the JW organization and to me it's quite plain-as-day that it certainly fits the criteria for being a cult. My frustration is..why are so many people, more importantly, my friends, still in it? I just don't get it. Is it common for ex JWs to try and get current members ;to snap out of it? Does anyone ever try? ;My guess is that it isn't because they aren't allowed to associate much with people who have left. (Is this true?) And I assume anyone who leaves, it then labeled as "disfellowshipped" and I understand they can't associate with the "disfellowshipped".
Many have tries to get friends out, I have tried many times with my parents to reason with them. It is not an easy task, the Watchtower Society (WTS) is very good at training any active JW's to automatically close their ears to any decenting idea's or litature. The task is almost imposible for most JW's however, their have been some sucesses.
On the same note, is it true (or a myth), that JWs are advised not to have close ties or friendships ;with non-JWs? ; If this is true then it may explain why the people we call friends don't reciprocate our friendliness very much. ;It seems to us they there is this "wall" and we can't have a real friendship. ;It's strangely cordial ;and there's a strong sense that ;they hold back. (It may very well be because I'm Catholic and I know very well how the JW org. feels about the Catholic Church.)
This is true, for the reasons I talked about above, by only srounding themselves with people that agree with them, their silly world view seems more rational and any idea's that go against the WTS are quickly squashed by their 'faithful' compainions.
On an entirely different matter, do any of you feel as though the internet has helped exposed the organization? ; Certainly this would be a great cause of concern for the organization.
Yes, the internet is our greatest tool. -

Is the average JW as brain dead as this poor woman?
by Honesty ini actually stopped replying to certain sections of this website awhile ago now, i felt it was starting to get to me, certain comments that were made were making me think and i actually had to shake my head and snap myself out of it.
what i did was remove myself from here altogether for a few weeks and i only came back last week to inform everyone of my baptism decision, i have still not even read anything in certain areas of this website, but yes most definitely has sunday's watchtower lesson put all of that into perspective for me.
we do have to be very careful indeed of what or who we let into our lives, for if we do it can be extremely damaging consequences if we start to believe what we read.
