I have to take a TUMS, that script really made me ill! I find their examples and demonstrations sickening! I don't know of anyone who actually talks in that manner! It sounds like the same old dog and pony show. Q from Calif

anyway ive been lurking here off and on for a while and figured i would stop being lazy and register.
so hello, i enjoy everyones posts and hope to be around for a while!

I've been lurking here for one year almost and it does the heart good to hear of others who feel the same way about this religion. The experiences some people have with the elders and the teachings are incredible. I'll look for your comments in the future and welcome. Q from Calif.

Were your prayers ever answered while being a JW
by Grouper indid any of your prayers ever get answered while being a jw even if they where small maybe insignificant?
pesonnally i never really needed my prayers to be answered but one time while the co visited us i was going to work with him durining saturady service i get there at 0930 but service started at 0900. i felt i missed my chance to work with him and show i was commited and i wanted to asked him how i can reconcile the fact i did not believe that noah's flood existed globally with the way the society views it.
i left the kingdom hall pissed off thinking i fu*ked things up, so i kinda said to jah well i messed up gettin some clarity to to my quandry.

I was once told that Jehovah only answers prayers regarding spiritual things. Like if you lost your keys and began praying for help finding them; no answer. If you pray about freeing up your time to pioneer; yes answer. After awhile you really can lose your true self if you follow and believe the entire mindset and bizarre JW requirements. It's an emptying of yourself, throwing away your feelings, turning your back on things that make you happy and on relationships that make you feel secure. No prayer have been answered here or of anyone I know. Q in Calif.

Another J W e mail
by NikL ini noticed another thread on this site relaying a stupid e mail making the rounds of dubdom.. well i just got this one and i thought i would share.... powerful illustration.
after the prayer, the local elder slowly stood up, walked up to the.
platform and, before he gave his public talk, he briefly introduced a guest.

Oh! for the love of Pete! It's now o.k. to act like God; making a decision to save someone just because he might be a Circuit Overseer? I guess you would have to become a Circuit Overseer after your friends dad saves you from sure death and lets his son die! Q from Calif.

I agree they picture Jesus looking too American, he's not ethnic enough to be Jesus. Interesting they chose to depict him as a man on earth and not in heaven where he is suppose to be right now! Q in Calif.

All of these prehistoric animals could've been an extension of rivalries between spirit beings/siblings - one creates a TRex and the other then tries to outdo that creation by making a Brontasaur (sp?). My View: There's no question that this earth had a different purpose in prehistoric times than the one we have today. I don't think of the creation account of the 7 days, Garden of Eden, Adam & Eve, Sin and Satan as literally as JW teach. The flood of Noah's day as told in the Bible has never seem possible; there's too many types of animals and too many animals living exclusively in certain areas for a world flood to have occurred. All these stories seem like metaphor and we as humans need to think of where we came from etc. and this is as good a story as any. SIDE NOTE: My mother thinks everything was created by Jehovah and the dinosaurs were created to give us petroleum products! You know fossil fuel. Q from California

by R.F. inthose of you that are elders and ms on the fade, i want to know how you personally keep up the facade?

Being female I've never been in your position but I was at a meeting when a brother was trying to give his talk and just stood there saying nothing for what seemed like a long time, then just walked off the stage and out the door! He was DF'd the next week! Just don't let it get that far gone that this happens to you! SQ Calif.

Local Needs on Farting! I'm Serious
by mtsgrad inin my decades of the "truth" i have heard scriptures twisted in an olympic manner to apply to local needs.
there were so many on various sexual activities that i tempted to throw money on the platform!.
i even heard from a reliable brother of a local needs on farting.

From do not wear strong perfumes, deodorants and other personal care products due to some in the congregation being allergic. Also had a local needs talk about not showing too much affection for your pets nor too much attention to your pets it could look like beastality. Spelling?! People in the congregation always forgot not to wear perfume to the meetings and laughed about it - lots of people didn't take it seriously. After working all day, rushing home to get dinner for the kid, then getting dressed for the meeting- who has time to wonder if they used something that someone will be allergic too? Oh well. But really - fart in the restroom. Yuck. SQ Calif.

JWdom "limbo"
by Gayle ini realize how many people are sent to "limbo" of sorts by the wts.
how many jws quit going, inactive, no meetings for "years," wasn't happy with it but are still "stuck" somewhere in between, not active jws, feeling condemned by the organization yet still don't stretch themselves to "read" anything to investigate why the organization didn't work for them.
my brother got a call from an inactive jw, who hasn't gone in years & not in the association of anyone anyway, not happy with jwdom.

Fear is immobilizing emotionally and mentally. JW's are taught to fear the world and every other organization out there in the world. It is such and intense and personal voiding to be a JW; it is hard to know who you are, let along go to a different place of worship! The meetings were dull, boring, not arousing any spiritual feelings in me personally, that it is hard to imagine going to a similar place where people just want to point out scriptures to prove whatever it is they want to prove. Just can't do it!!!!! SuzieQ Calif.

Going to speak to my parents about the 'Truth"
by ThomasCovenant ini am going to approach my parents (dad an elder) later this summer with my true feelings about the wt society.
i have the cd rom and a lot of society books (plus of course the off limits wonders of google) but i happen to have just one bound volume of the watchtower 1953. it's a real gem!.
i intend to bring this book to my meeting with them as they won't be able to say it's apostate.

I left the religion of JW not due to trying to prove or disprove any arguments about specific topics, but because I was sick, physically and mentally of the huge amount of reading material telling me how to think, and live. I was sick of the meetings, sick of the elders trying to act smarter than they are, and I just walked away. This is important: If you are of age, have a place of your own, are of sound mind and judgement- YOU DON't NEED TO EXPLAIN why you no longer want to study, attend meetings, go door to door or anything else. I tell the JW who come to my door that I just do not have any interest in what they are saying, it is that simple. They then ask "What do you think about the violence, the school shootings!" I tell them I had nothing to do with it, there are disturbed people everywhere and that is life. Life is risk. God can do what God wants to do about it, it has nothing to do with me. SuzieQ Calif.
