  the study article on the "patience of jehovah" a few weeks back caused some discussion on the forum.

  but there was one particular turn of phrase that stuck out in my mind concerning job:"the outcome?

  jehovah "blessed the end of job afterward more than his beginning.

  Would you fight and possibly die for your country?

  i want to put this in the right frame, as what is happening in iraq is not about dying for our countries.

  so this is what i mean by this question.. if a foreign government were to suddenly invade your country.

  would you be willing to join the arm forces to fight for your country, knowing full well that you may die having never been able to reap the benefits of any possible victory?

  blondie, yer da man! er, woman. if someone was threatening my well being, my family's well being, or an otherwise innocent person, i would kill with absolutely no conscience. while i prefer not to die, that is the chance you take when you engage in combat with another person(s).

  welcome, z.

  try to read all the real old watchtower publications you can get ahold of. you will see how much supposed "truth" has been discarded by the society. some of them were doctrines that were the cornerstones to the entire faith. they are gone now, just like the current core beliefs will be when they dont pan out. if they were really the "channel" from God, those truth's would still be true. not to mention joining the U.N. they have some real interesting talks and documents concerning that. good luck.

  Do you think that my college professor is a "racist"?

  i am in a dilema at school that i need some feedback on.

  my geography professor is a young caucasian man in his mid 30's.

  he is very knowlegable about the other countries in the world but he always seem to make negative statements about blacks, hispanics, asians and native americans.

  clyde seems to think that the wt a long time ago referred to sewing machines as a sign that the end was near.

  i don't remember.. anyone here recall anything like that?

  yep, that would seem logical, if we didnt live in dubland. the nwt. inserts the word; "true" in the passage from daniel. as in ; (true) knowledge will increase. meaning bible knowledge will increase! so, dont fret. the end is near, but the sewing machine has nothing to do with it.

  i would not do it. china is a bad bad place. they sell organs from executed criminals, on an as needed basis. they have no conscience. the imported witnesses certainly have dub contacts over there. what if some of these chinese dubs have children who get caught in the cross hairs? man, you would have to live with that for the rest of your life.

  i was raised in the jw cult from birth until i left when i was 18(i am now 34).

  i hated it from the beginning, but because my mom was so strict, there was nothing i could do about it.

  (my dad didn't belong to the jws but i didn't get much sympathy or support from him - he didn't want to "rock the boat".

  i saw a car today that had a bumper sticker that said "i ".

  considering what is taught by the wts about jesus would you have ever put a bumper sticker on your car with this message?.

  i am not sure if this is true. but, my dad told me he saw a bumper sticker (in the 1950's) that read "follow me to the convention at pontiac mich. my mother in-law (who is a dub) said she remembers them. she thought they were approved by the society. maybe a life long dub would remember?
