i know it has been talked about before, but does anyone have information as to when jw started banning beards.
my wife is telling me that it started in the 60/70's because of the hippies, but i know i read somewhere on here that it was much earlier.. .
I remember being told by an elder in my old cong. that a brother could wear a beard if he so chose but he would not be given any privilages.
My friends from other countries said that in some congregations it was o.k. to sport one. A lot of controversy over the years about this subject.
I wonder how may posters here have grown one since they left .

i had to take late movies back tonight and they were so late the store had called and told me they were charging me for them.

i have never been much for dark, foreign beers.
mostly just miller lite, maybe a heineken or two.. one day matt and i were downtown and went to a pub here in nashville to have a few beers.

I took some of my friends there 2 weeks ago and sugested they try it. They liked it, wouldn't you know it. Also Yuengling is pretty good too.

So, do I tell them I'm DA ? Do I use an Alias ? When asked what congregation I'm from..do I make one up ? Can I say, proudly "From JWD" ?

I have to agree with Wozadummy's. The written word is very different than the orally spoken one. A missplaced comma can change the meaning of a whole sentence. I am no Shakespeare or Cervantes, and I can only hope that what I write is not miss understood.
You're right about the many personality types, but diiferent colors and flowers is what makes the world beautiful.

the entire ass-embly was dealing with materialism or higher education; apparantly one leads to the other.
why cant the wts realize that higher education is not just a means to get rich or ahead in this system, but a means to have a career outside of janitorial work?
Yes, because of their suggestions I never went to college and now am sorry for that.
Now I work for a meager wage which just barely covers my expenses. If I had gone to college I would have studied architecture or engineering. That was my dream, now I live reality..........how sad.
