I'd actually tend to agree with that statement James_slush, except I'd say don't listen to it too much because it's full of politically slanted and corporate propaganda. Oh, and what we should buy next.

Ok, so earlier this summer at a DC I got to hear one of the GB speak. He used some odd terminology I had not heard before. He said this two or three times, so I mentally made note of it. He said "Jehovah's Witness, and "Friends of Jehovah's Witnesses".
Does anyone know what he might have meant by this? I mean, the official teaching is that anyone that is baptized is recognized as a JW. So the obvious conclusion is that anyone else would be studies or maybe those that associate to some degree or children of JW. But I couldn't help but think that he meant more by this. Could he have meant that ONLY annointed are "really" JWs and that anyone else, even if baptized are just "friends of JWs?

Why didn't we ever study "Mankind's Search For God"?
by gubberningbody inwas there an official or unofficial reason that anyone knows of?.
it seems to me that pretty much every publication was studied at the book study, but we never did that one..

baltar447
Yes it was studied. Well, at least I am almost positive it was studied.

Does the CO visit inactive ones during his visit?
by NiceDream inwe haven't been to meetings for a few months and weren't aware of the co visit until we received a phone call an hour and a half before the meeting letting us know.
no one came to visit us so far this week, not that i'm complaining.
does the co usually stop by in service?
-
baltar447
Had this happen once. I was well liked by our CO, and he came by for a visit with a couple of brothers, he was very warm and nice. He was my favorite CO. What I heard later though, made me sick to my stomach. Not about the CO though. I am hesitant to tell the story because if I did someone might be able to identify me. I really wouldn't mind telling someone, so if anyone is really interested PM me and I'll tell you.

What would happen to a JW if they were prescribed medical marijuana?
by manicmama ini was just looking at the news and this just popped into my head.
what if you had terminal cancer and were prescribed this by your physician?
you already have a terminal disease so the thing about destroying your "body as a temple" thing is a mute point.

I think the really uder dub would consider this a temptation form satan. I'd consider it no big deal but I wouldn't dare tell a soul. I'd prefer not to smoke it, but would take it in another form. I just hate smoke period.

Change in meeting attendance procedure - can't figure out why though
by sir82 inper a recent letter to elders:.
beginning september 1, there will be a change to the way attendance is recorded at congregation meetings.. currently, attendance is counted at 4 of the 5 meeting (public talk, wt study, congregation "bible" study, and service meeting).. but after sept. 1, meeting attendance will only be taken at 2 of the meetings - during the "first quarter" of the wt study, and also at the cbs.. .
no reason in given for the change in the letter, and i can't figure out why myself.. the numbers are not published anywhere - the only "official" record is a 6 month average the co puts together during his visit.. why request less information from the congregations, especially when it "costs" nothing to accumulate it in the first place?

baltar447
Further simplification? Here's my wild speculation. What would be one way to REALLY freak out the friends? Get rid of the public talk. Discuss.

Generation teaching - conversation I just had with my dad.
by cult classic inso, went to the dc 2 days this weekend.
still have lots of family in and had to put in a cameo for family who had parts on the program and drama.
i left after the drama today and just spoke with my dad who is inactive and supposedly enlightened about all things jw.

I don't think many will truly understand what they are trying to explain. Most will just say, "it's the annointed" without giving it further thought.

Rosenberg Assembly Hall
by blindersoff inwho worked on this project?
would love to renew friendships on this level.

Wasn't this the last assembly hall to be built without direct supervision from the branch or something? It was insanely expensive as I remember.

Can you "fornicate" with your marriage mate? I've heard the WTBTS says that you can. Is this true?
by ultrabimbo inis it true that the current thinking of jehovah's witnesses is that you can "fornicate" with your marriage mate if you engage in sexual activity that is not approved by the writing department at bethel?
what are some examples?.
