Hello xcaliber, and welcome to the discussion board.
I used to feel the same way as you do about the organization. What you have to do is commit yourself to learning both sides of a issue or teaching before you commit yourself to a belief. You will find that truth isn't always as black and white as it seems. Make a commitment to learn both sides of a issue first without prejudging. Check out Freeminds.org
Another thing you have to do is stop being a victum in your own mind. You made the decision to go to bethel. You made the decision not to go to school. You are making the decision to get married right away. You are in control of your life, not the watchtower. If you feel they are overly influencing you, then you may have to make the decision on how much influence they have on you. Start taking responsibility on how your life works out. It will be tough but everyone goes through it. You are still young and have plenty of good years ahead of you. Don't sabotage yourself by cultivating a victums mentality.
Keep checking out this board and it will help you understand many things that the watchtower does that they don't want the friends to know.

Power of Prayer Demonstrated
by Carmel inlast night i took one of my daughter's highschool friends to the rodeo with me since noone else was interested.
we had a good time with the freebee vip tickets, barby and then the rodeo.
before the first event there was a half hour of pagentry which was okay, but it was interrrupted by an "invocation" by one of the local baptist ministers.

Use the Elder's own rules against them......
by AK - Jeff inthe elder's handbook gives specific areas in which tactics might be developed by some to avoid unwanted disfellowshippings - .
the following appears in that manual - .
baptized persons who have not associated for some time .. if you learn of serious wrongdoing on the part of such a. person, the matter should be investigated if it poses a. threat to the congregation's cleanness and welfare or causes.

I'm curious, does anyone know of a poster on JWD who successfully sued the congregation for being disfellowshipped because the elders didn't follow the societies rules? Has anyone successfully sued the society for being disfellowshipped?

That's my take on it, I think you are obsessing too much. Sometimes we fill our minds with all sorts of anxieties for no good reason other that a underlying feeling of self loathing for some inadequacy or past sin. Also you seem to ruminate a lot about jdub teaching, I agree with damselfly that you may want to get checked out for compulsion and anxiety disorders.
If you feel like reading, check out the 'Feeling Good Handbook' by dr. David Burns. Very helpful book.
Also, if there are specific Jdub teachings that are bothering you, feel free to post a topic and many will help you with the reasoning.
Welcome to the board Helmus.

Hey Drew
I just went through something similar. I spoke to the elder as truthfully as I can without getting into too much detail. One thing I did do was to ask him how he reconciled the generation of 1914. I told them that I gave up so much because of the strong definitiveness of the society about that time period and yet I felt serious reservations about that date. Interestingly, when he started talking about his experience, he sounded like a apostate, criticizing Fred Franz and some of the societies views. From now on, when a elder speaks with me, I am going to respectfully and i mean respectfully throw the ball back in their court and have them explain things to me. (note: this may not work if the elder is dishonest dimwit)
