I'm in the market for a new laptop and the convertable tablet has caught my eye. Gateway recently came out with a 14" widescreen laptop/tablet that is a stunner. Anyone have or uses a tablet pc and what do you think of it?

Snakes on a Plane...for or against?

Elders and apostates on a plane
I'd pay to see that.
well as mrsjones said, it's a fluff movie. You don't go to see it for social commentary, you see it to escape reality for two hours. I loved 'eight legged freaks', another b-movie that was fun to watch. Sam's the man!!!!!

Wanting a new computer, and a new OS
by Nosferatu ini'm still running win95, and it has been good to me for the past 8 years or so.
unfortunately, it seems that win95 is officially becoming obsolete, especially with browsing the internet.
some websites require ie6 or newer, and win95 can't run it.. so, i'm thinking about getting a new computer, or even a used one that isn't too far behind the times.

hey stevenyc
Since you have the new macbook, and have loaded xp, what about the drivers for the xp part? Do you have to go to the vendor and load each one separately? Sometimes it is hard to locate the right driver (ex: graphics drivers, dvd burner driver, etc...). Also, have you done any video editing with your new macbook? Right now I'm contemplating upgrading my laptop looking into different options. One more thing, how long does the battery last?
thanx

Oh, one more thing, lonelysheep asked me we can all sit together? The answer is yes, it is open seating so we can sit together. Also you can purchase your ticket via credit card and pick it up the night of the play. Just make sure you bring your credit card so they can identify you.

Note: when I said I was going to pick up 5 tickets, it is for a group that is not on this forum, just some friends who left the Jdubs. Those on the forum need to pick up their own tickets. If anyone is free that evening and is in NY area, join us.

Did anyone see or do a random act of kindness today?
by okie46 intoday while unloading my groceries, i witnessed a random act of kindness... someone in a ford explorer was waiting for a car to leave a parking spot so they could pull in there, they had been waiting for several minutes when finally the car in that spot backed out and left.
before the person in the ford explorer could pull into the spot, a lady in a ford taurus pulled on into that parking space.
the person in the ford explorer who had been patiently waiting, just sat there, they didn't honk or flip the person off, then the lady in the ford taurus realized that the other vehicle had been waiting for that spot and backed out to find another spot, letting the guy who had been waiting have his spot.

This is a nice thread, it is good to get reminders to do good things for others. As a ancillary benefit, it really frustrates the brothers when people speak well of people who left the bOrg and became more Christ-like.

A Bad experience with JW is a permit for SIN?
by El Mariachi ini've been reading some sad experinces here... i dont see anyone talking about the bible... only how misserables the organization made their lives... ok ...so because of that...now i have permission to smoke marijuana and commit fornication?
this sounds pretty much like aa... and everybody having his/her personal "superior power" who is giving them the permit to do whatever they want...
i've been df for 4 years now and also dont agree with some jw teachings... why instead of blaming the wt for everything dont we look for the real truth in the bible and make things right.

El Mariachi, you need to relax and be a little less judgmental.
I personally find certain types of behavior wrongs such as what you said "Adultery,Stealing,Murder,Lies,Drunkenes, etc, etc." But people make a choice in their lives and sometimes will have to pay the consequences. A friend of mine sometimes struggles with alcoholism and when he is slipping, I let him know out of concern. Sometimes he has to detox and go into rehab. I still consider him my friend and if I could help him overcome this weakness, I will. But I will not shun him and treat him like dirt. If you have problems with certain types of behavior, you have every right not to have that person over your house or over for a meal but don't hate the person or shun them. That is not the Christian way.I don't agree with everyone here but I find their posts interesting and sometimes very enlightening. In fact, it actually helps me to understand the bible and peoples point of view a little better. Latter on I plan to check out some churches locally and plan to keep God in my life. I also feel that creation gives too much testimony to a intelligent creator for things to happen by chance. There are many scientists who likewise feel this way as there are those who don't. State your case and let people decide.
Take care -

Watchtower Acceptance

Hi Wanderer,
I have been with the bOrg over 20 years and found myself disillusioned by it for the last 10 years. I was trying to find some rationalization to deal with the false prophecies, bad policies, lack of love, false friends and so on... the last ten years were years of misery. Finally this year I had enough. I did a lot of research on the net and read several books on the bOrg and mind control tactics. After doing that, I knew I could never go back and that I was going to have to start all over again.
It has been not quite a year yet and already is falling into place now. It seems that every new experience outside the bOrg is a adventure. I can honestly say that I am having much more fulfillment now than before. I have met many nice non-witnesses and my telephone book is getting filled up again (it looked practically empty when I got rid of the witness 'friends'). I think the key with getting on with life is to welcome change (it is going to happen anyway) and taking the initiative of making positive things happen.
Also, this board is very helpful in getting rid of any lingering guilt. Personally, I find the people here to be nice people that I would very much like to meet in a gathering and hang out with. Enjoy your stay with us.
