I remember the first time I had corn ice cream. It was in puerto rico about 10 years ago. It sounded gross but I couldn't believe how good it tastes. The ice cream shop would sprinkle a little cinnamon on top and I was in heaven. When I went back to PR, I made sure I went back to that ice cream shop.

Things YOU eat, that other people think is weird.
by misanthropic inthis mornings events have got me thinking about things.
i love peanut butter, not the sweet kind but i like the old fashioned peanut butter, usually laura scudder's with no sugar or preservatives - it just tastes better imo.
i put it on everything including pancakes which are really good with peanut butter and maple syrup.

What do you think is behind the watchtower change in 2008 ?
by 5go ini think it's an atempt to catch faders or atleast make active dubs feel special.
it also could be a cost cutting measure to though.
getting rid of the km's and even up awakes and watchtowers would save some trees.

onacruse, if one issue is going only to the witnesses, they only have to print maybe 7~8 million copies of that issue (6.5 million witnesses worldwide) instead of usual 20 million copies that's distributed worldwide. That ends up saving a considerable amount of money. Also, they don't have to translate it into so many languages for the copies that are distributed only for the witnesses.

My Journey-Man Walks On The Moon...I Remain In The Stone Age

i hope to get some of it out in these my journey posts.

Wow, interesting story. There is really something about these religious groups that incite people to such extreme measures. I was reading the other day about the branch davidians and I couldn't help but think how the JW's likewise attract unbalanced individuals and cater to somewhat extreme measures. I felt sad about the bethel overseer committing sucide, what a shame. Keep it coming.

I could use some computer help..........please.
by ButtLight inok, alot of you know i bought a camcorder.

Butt light, since your laptop can read DVD's, just pop it in and open it as a file, not a movie.(Go to my computer, open the dvd drive by right clicking on the dvd drive and select 'OPEN') You should see the video files in your dvd drive in this format. Just copy all the files to your hard drive, you don't need nero for this. If you want to record on CD's, remember that they can hold only about 700 meg on a disk. Mini DVD'd can hold about 1.4 gig. I believe nero 6 has a editing program that you can use to edit the video and then burn it on a CD's or DVD's (if you have a DVD burner) Also, the new mini DVD camcorders record the video in mpeg2 format so you shouldn't need any more compression.
Hope that was helpful.

My Bethel Experience Part 15
by new boy inthe courtship from hell.......i started driving up to rhode island in september of 1972. i would go about every other week.
i needed to "step down" as a book study servant, because at the time daryl christianson had come up with this brillant idea that all the book study conductors should visit everyone in their own book studies and everyone in someone else's book studies every 2 months.........so between, bethel, and a part time "g" job, going up to rhode island and shepparding everyone in the book studies, it was just to much.
so for the first time in my life, i declined a "privilege of service"........it didn't feel that bad......and in fact felt damn good.......little did i know i was leaving one hell for another one.. what i 'm about to tell you...........is the absolute truth!..........we had 2 dates in a year and a half........that is two dates in 18 months.........."2" dates...........the only time they would let us be together with out a chaperone was in the field service...........the whole courtship was spent on her parents couch in the living room......with one of them in the other room!

PUNISHED by WBTS for obeying conscience.
by yesidid ini have a friend well call michael whose conscience landed him in trouble with hq.. .
he was a district overseer in the pre 75 era but his conscience would not allow him to .

nice story, most probably true. We would need more facts to substantiate the story.

Elders in denial?
by Bobhere inafter i was df and seriously questioning my faith in the org ( won't call it the truth) i gave a copy of coc to an elder i have known since i was a young man.
he read it found it disturbing and said that he didn't realize problems that he found at his level of involvement went so high.
i then gave him a copy of "in search of christian freedom" he never read it said that he didn't want to question his faith in the brothers.

well, my view is that if you have a higher level of responsibility, you have a obligation to make sure what you teach is true. It is one thing not to have information available and quite another thing to have the information but refuse to look into it.

Using the Gold Mine
by Gregor inthe archives of posts on jwd represents a gold mine of information, personal experiences and intelligent discussions.
i think it would be of real benefit, especially to those who cautiously peek in on the site (aka, lurkers), to be able to select from an index of subject matter.
there would be a subject reference address for the beginning of those threads that discussed the subject and include some special posts that were of particular quality in the realm of the jwd site.

i think what the site needs is a better search engine.

Bluetooth Headsets: Geeky or Sexy?
by Elsewhere inas a programmer i am exposed to high technology all the time and ironically this has given me an odd aversion to it!
i like gadgets and gizmos like anyone else; however i demand it be discrete.
when i'm out-n-about i want to be connected, but at the same time i don't want anyone to be able to see it.. for years i have avoided the bluetooth headsets that appear to be gaining in popularity, however im still not quite ready to get one because of the obvious geek factor and the simple fact that many people who wear them appear to be making the "look at me, i've fancy" statement.

The damn things look horrible, "look at me, I'm buck rogers". If someone gave me one as a gift, it would go in the glove compartment and probably be forgotten. Sorry if I offend anyone but that's what it looks like to me.
