Pro Life, pro choice?
by got my forty homey? ini always have felt that the following expressions were stupid, why dont they just call it pro abortion, anti abortion.
anyway, knowing our backgrounds as jw's what is your viewpoint on this highly debated issue?

I guess I am pro-life. I believe abortion is murder.
I also know how hard it is to be faced with that decision. I had to make a choice 18 years ago when I found out I was pregnant......I was still a teenager, single, no money, facing the possiblity of being kicked out of my house and DF'd if anyone found out. It's a very hard decision to be faced with. I'm glad that I opted against the abortion. I now have a wonderful son - who will be 18 in 2 days.......... and just reminded me he'll be old enough to buy porno

Prices of 8-Tracks on the rise!
by Nosferatu inlast night, i stopped in at a thrift store called "value village" just to see if they had anything to waste my hard-earned money on.
i came to the 8-track rack and found a copy of fleetwood mac's first album.
of course i grabbed it and walked up to pay for my item.. i nearly shit myself when i was charged $1.06 (including tax)!

My middle name is Dawn. I'm married - but hubby was never a JW and doesn't understand my interest in this board at all. But then again......I completely do not understand his interest in posting to a classic car site either. So there ya go.....to each his own

"If anyone is still "IN"...be careful...they are in the process of doing "witchhunts" right now..and they are looking thru websites like this for people they know. Just had a 1st cousing DF'd along with her ministerial servant husband for "Apostacy"..."
The funny thing is.....this type of control is exactly what finally made me "see the light". I realized that if it was the truth it should be able to stand up to any amount of scrutiny. You should be able to study, research, even pick at the truth and it will only be more obvious that it is the truth. If it fades away as you gain more knowledge.......then it wasn't the truth to begin with.
Perhaps I should make my 2004 new years resolution to begin that support group! Since they are on such a witch hunt.....it sure would be fun to stand up, be obvious and say bring it on!!

When are you "officially" subject to the WTS?
by Elsewhere ineven if you are not baptized, all you have to do is turn in time and they consider you subject to them.... .
*** watchtower 88 11/15 p. 17 helping others to worship god ***.
the two elders will inform the student that when he qualifies for and shares in the field service, he may turn in a field service report and a congregation?s publisher record card will be made out in his name.

Hi Descender:
My son also has ADHD - it's tough but hang in there, I believe you will find the right treatment for you if you don't give up.
As for your wife - here's my point of view. A few years back I would go out with my girlfriends at least once a week without my hubby. I wasn't interested in looking for anyone else, it's just that hubby and I weren't getting along so well - and he wasn't fun to be around. It bothered him a lot - but I didn't want to do things with him either. Hubby and I worked things out and now I rarely go out to a bar without him. It could be that your wife is using the "girls night out" as an escape because she's having a hard time dealing with your depression.
I would recommend that you: (1) Follow up on getting treatment for your ADHD, and (2) plan nights to go out with your wife as a couple in addition to her "girls nights out" - she might be more willing to go out with you if she doesn't feel threatened that you'll take away her other "escape" - and she might also find that she has fun with you when you guys are out.

This is just getting stupid
by spiritwalker inthis a quote from cnn.com.
in which they are talking about a new movie that is about the last ours of jesus christ ... .
the movie, whose dialogue is in latin and aramaic, covers the final 12 hours in the life of jesus christ and has come under fire from some jewish groups who claim its story could foment anti-semitism by tying christ's death to jewish authorities.. .

Even if the Jews of the 1st century CE, were responsible for Jesus' death, that's not the fault of any Jew living today.
I agree! However, I think that as an American I can sympathize somewhat.....although what happened to the slaves and the Indians is not the fault of any American living today, it still impacts our society and we still carry the stigma. So I can relate.
Regardless - I agree with the PC comments.....we've gotten way too worried about being politically correct - to the point of stupidity!

Canned music playing while people stood around and mouthed the words.
Doesn't that pretty well sum up the whole JW experience? It's a poor imposter of true christianity

I feel like such a dufus sometimes
I started attending a church a couple of years ago - I really like it but was really puzzled at first because they sang a lot of songs at the beginning of service.......like 6 or 7. Then I noticed that a few people there sometimes lift up their hands to "heaven" when they're singing .....nothing weird like rolling around on the floor and dancing.....just lifting up their hands. But still......having only attended meetings at a Kingdom Hall all my life - this was new!
I've gotten used to it - but still didn't really get it. That is...until this Sunday. It hit me...........They are worshiping.......as a JW I never actually seen people worship Jehovah. People went out in service, studied, attended the meetings, yadda yadda yadda.......but did anyone ever actually bow down during prayer to God and perform an act of worship to him? Or sing from the heart with feeling and praise to him?
It has taken me 2+ years of going to this church to figure it out.........like I said.........sometimes I feel like such a dufus!
