I used toss them when I seen them - now I take out a pen and write a message across the front - something like "There is a pedophile problem among the Jehovah's Witness Organization - www.silentlambs.org" - then I put the magazine right back where it was so the next person can see it (ps - I always secretly hope it's a witness that see's it next and actually does go to the site - maybe it will open their eyes)

Have you ever taken an IQ test? I just did one for school - pretty interesting kind of test. I scored a 134 , but have to admit that I don't know how accurate a test this one was. I'm sure I'd score much lower on the Mensa exams - therefore - I think I'll just keep this cheasy result and tell everyone I'm a genius. (ha ha)
How many here have taken an IQ test? I'm kind of interested in this now that I had to endure one.

Thank you all for your kind words. I'm glad I could be encouraging. It was so hard at times to look towards the future - especially when I was in the midst of such despair and lonliness. In the past I have found the courage to keep moving on after reading a post here from someone else who has rebuilt their life - hearing those types of stories helped me realize that I too could do it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Do You suffer from a bad back?
by Dansk inif so, you might find this news report interesting.
i guess most of us knew this was the best method anyway, but there are so many quack ideas that could work out expensive.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4022963.stm.

I have a bad back - car accident years ago. It was so bad that I used to take pain killers almost daily for it. But a few years ago I discovered Yoga and Jazz Dancing - both of those have helped tremendously. I think it's the streaching - since I was always an avid exerciser and athletic type person. The only difference I've done is the streaching for dance and yoga - but OMG did it make a great difference!!
I also go to a chiropractor. Every 12-18 months I go for 2-3 sessions and she fixes this darn spot in my back that I can never seem to streach out. It kinks up and becomes very painful after a while. So - I guess I'd say chriopractors and exercise are a good match for fixing a bad back!

We're doing Thanksgiving at our house this year, and I can't wait.
When I was DF'd I lost everyone I ever had a relationship with - all but 2 people, my little boy, and my worldly boyfriend. As we all know - it is so devastating and lonely. My whole family - gone in one formal announcement. How in the h_ll can someone just pick up and rebuild an entire life of relationships?!!
Jump ahead a few years later (I said a few d@mnit! - ok, 14) I'm shopping for our Thanksgiving dinner this year and I realized - WOW - my whole past has been replaced. This is just so cool. My boyfriend all those years ago became my husband. We raised my little boy into a wonderful man, and added another daughter to the family. And this Thanksgiving I'll have a houseful of family including my in-laws (great people!), my daughter, my son, his girlfriend, uncles, grandparents, etc.
To all of you just getting out, or contemplating - it did NOT take me 14 years to rebuild my life. That's not what I mean by this post - It's just that every once in a while I notice something fantastic about my life now and it takes my breath away - it makes me realize that the "end" is never really the "end" - life goes on - and you never know what great things are out there in your future.
One Thursday night in 1990 I thought my whole world had came to an end. I'm glad I didn't give up that night. I'm glad I didn't go back. Hang in there - trust yourself - stand for freedom. Don't give up!

Congrats!!! I celebrated my very first Christmas when I was 24 years old. It's been a few years since then . I LOVE this time of year - there is so much to look forward to now with the holidays, parties, shopping, decorating, etc. It makes winter time bearable.

The elders called!
by nb-dfed ini was home the other night, minding my own business, when the phone rang.
the number was blocked on my caller id, but i answered anyways.
lo and behold!

Gee...I've been DF'd for some time and haven't had a phone call like that. Weird. Of course - I've made it pretty clear with the elders exactly where I think they can stick their religion...(same place their heads are!). Hmmm - maybe that's why they don't call.

Where We Are in the Stream of Time
by Duncan ini had another visit from witnesses at my door on saturday, only the second time in the four years we?ve lived here.
a very nice young girl, it was, offering me the ?keep on the watch?
magazine.. i let her make her pitch, which was mostly all about how terrible the world was today, and then just replied with enough interest for her to keep going, without giving anything away.

I would have asked her "On which page are the dinosaurs?"

What's Your Biggest Disappointment In Life??
by minimus indoes it have to do with having been a witness?
the fact that you missed out in something??
what?
-
Dawn
My biggest disappointment is my childhood. There are a lot of bad memories and some deep wounds that has taken me years to heal.
I am really hurt that my family has tossed me out as being "not worthy" because I no longer want to be a member of their organization. But then again - they tossed me out as being "not worthy" even when I was a child, by abusing me or refusing to protect me from my abusers.
However - I've learned that disappointment doesn't have to be the end of it all. It's a learning experience and it CAN be used as a stepping stone instead of a road block.
As an adult, my biggest disappointment is that I did not stick up for myself sooner. It has only been in the past year or so that I've been able to tell my family to BITE ME and not feel bad about it. I should have stood up to them long ago - but now I know better. I know that I deserve to be treated better and I demand it. Yea for me!!
