what are you using your time to do , that you couldn't do before when enslaved to the decrepit old men of the org?.
i'm now determined to throw down my squeegee , and become an artist.. yes i am ashamed to admit i am a window cleaner.. i have always love drawing and art, but was adviced in school that if iwanted to be an artist i would have to be determined and be totally focused in order to succeed.. but knowing i had to pioneer and go to the meetings etc i knew i wouldn't have time .so i choose to let go of my dream and waste my talents in order to serve god by selling magazines.. in fact the "truth" took up so much time that i almost gave up drawing , i cant draw well unless relaxed and i have plenty of time, in fact my favorite time is early morning when i wake up.. now i have no meetings , studying etc i have lots of time to draw and i just cant stop.. i don't know much about getting into the art world , but looking round different galleries i've seen and comparing my work i belive i can succeed.. i'll give it my best shot anyway.
WHAT I DO NOW:
Go to a church I WANT to attend and enjoy being at
Study Bible topics I'm interested in
Working on being completely "transparent" (honest) about who I am
Enjoying my life!!
WHAT I DON'T DO NOW:
Try to find excuses to miss the next meeting
Spend time studying articles/books I am NOT interested in learning
Try so hard to be a good little girl & pretend I'm someone I'm not
Research whether it's ok to have oral sex now or not (tee hee)

this is a sort of follow up to "jesus- ignored, forgotten & unemployed at wts" posted by metatron.. it strikes me, that since i have re-appraised many of my religious views that my prayers have changed significantly.
and whilst i am still an active jw, i have wondered whether my family has noticed, though they have not said anything so far.. jws prayers are not only very stereotyped (despite what jesus admonition about not using the same words, or by extension the same thoughts, over and over again) but also extremely introverted towards the watchtower society.. for example, a typical congregation prayer will include the following thoughts;.
1. bless our congregation.

Instead of feeling guilty - just pray and tell him how you feel about him. And ask him to show you the truth about him. Be open and honest - don't be afraid to express your real feelings.
I felt the exact same way for years - why would I want to know this person who is so scarry and just zaps people right and left?!! Someone suggested that I pray to him about it so I started doing that - and I began to realize two things:
1) The JW's focus on his discipline side - which is mostly found in the Old Testament. It's a scare tactic - and why not? They couldn't very well scare you into submission by using a lot of Jesus' actions and words could they? If someone decided to tell your life story and only told them the bad stuff would people like you much either?
2) God is a combination of the Yahweh/Jehovah (old testament) and Jesus (new testament). As parents we are both disciplinarian and loving shepherd - some days our kids see us as mean old farts, other days they want to be with us and love us and we show them cool stuff.
And remember - if God does live outside of our time dimension (which I believe that he does) and we never really die - then death on earth as a punishment may be no more to God (and us ultimately) than being grounded to our room for a day when we were five (seemed like eternity then didn't it?)

This is correct.
My father (an elder) passed away in October. I went with my mother to give him a last goodby at the funeral a few hours after he passed, picked out the casket, went to the flower shop and ordered the flowers, had the memorial pamplets printed up, basically did most of the arrangements myself because my brothers (all elders) lived out of town and mom was too distraught (understandably).
However - I was shunned at the funeral services.
Here's the funny little twist - there was a "get together" of types at my mother's house afterwards - you know, to encourage each other. My mom insisted that I come, and pretty much insisted that everyone talk to me (tee hee). Of course, all but two complied with her - being that my mother was so depressed, and they all loved my dad so much - he was one of those elders everyone went to for advice and everyone wanted on their committee meetings.

after sharon died last september, wasasister suggested mulan and i walk in the komen race for the cure.
we did and it was amazing.

Those pictures of Armageddon always bothered me - especially as a child. I had nightmares about that!!
And I couldn't figure out why those people left behind would be smiling - wouldn't they be sad about the loss of life? I still feel that way today - I would be sad that anyone had to die.

the best mother and the best wife anybody could ever be blessed with.
she was not only my mother, she was my friend.
