introduction
by darkwanderer inhi, i'm new....and i am searching for a place to call home..... i was raised in a strict catholic family....sexually abused by a jesuit priest....left the church....married....was baptized a witness in 1975...regular pioneered for about 5 and a half years (1988 to 1994)...quit that...diagnosed depressed....have slowly drifted away....and now...with the news of what is happening within the organization and offenders and pedophiles....i find that i can't stay in the organization....i can't be a part of something that so closely resembles the catholic church and all their deceptiveness.... i have no "home"...... thanks for listening....

Hearing Kingdom Songs on Dateline.......sickened
by Mulan indid anyone else have the bile come up, when you heard those "kingdom songs" during the dateline show?
it made me feel ill.........and almost like leaving the room.
i wonder why i have such an aversion to anything connected to a kh meeting?

Do you know what I noticed?? How "hum-drum" they sing - no feeling, no joyfulness. Just blah blah blah.
I really noticed the difference when I visited a Baptist church for the first time! In that church the singing was unreal - really strong and from the heart. Not at all like the "praises" you hear from the Kingdom Melodies.

Jehovah will take care of it
by Dawn ini called my mother last night (an active jw) right after the dateline segment and said "well, what'd ya think?".
we talked a little bit, then i said "well, i noticed quite a few times it was said 'jehovah will take care of things' or 'we need to wait on jehovah'.
she replied that was correct - jehovah would take care of things.. so i responded "mom - i think he just did!".

Thanks Robdar. It will definately take patience. She has been a faithful JW for over 40 years. As long as I don't put her on the defensive or bring up these topics too often she will listen.

So I responded "Mom - I think he just did!"
Knowing that my mom still believes the WTBS is God's organization I continued "Remember in the old testament there were times when the Isrealites were doing wrong and would not listen to counsel from the prophets - God would use outside nations or agencies to exact punishment on them. Don't you think that perhaps this is happening again? If the WTBS is God's Organization, and they have not cleaned themselves of this problem, don't you think he could use an outside agency to bring discipline and cleansing? And if that's true - then all those JW's who are refusing to watch Dateline or read the articles because they think they are God's people and can do no wrong, well they're just like the Isrealites who refused to listen when they were being corrected."
She had to admit that could be the case. Now I don't believe the WTBS is God's organization - but using this line of reasoning, she'll probably be more open to more articles and information as it progresses.
Just thought I'd pass this along to ya'll - maybe it will help you in speaking to your JW friends & family.

Okay, This is a bit "weird"
by D8TA ini'm not a person who is what some may call a "nut".
i have a pretty firm grip on reality.
i don't post any "weird" posts, or go in to any flakey discussion or such.

I didn't e-mail this - not sure it fits with your description but it seemed weird to me.
Early last year I had a number of dreams, the circumstances were all different but the denominator ended up the same - I was in a room surrounded by JW's, some of them were talking to me even though I'm DF'd - some ignorning me. I felt really uncomfortable and wanted to leave. Sometimes the dreams were of me at the KH, sometimes I was in a friend's house, different places, but the same thing - completely surround by JW's and feeling really outnumbered. And I knew they weren't supposed to talk to me but some did - it was weird.
Last October my father (an elder) passed away. I handled most of the arrangements and helped my mom during this time. I ended up at the memorial service at the Kingdom Hall - surrounded by JW's, then my mom had a gathering at her house that she insisted on me attending. Again I was sitting there in the living room surrounded by all these JW's - some talked to me, others shunned me. I felt just like I did in that dream - it was almost identical to the dream!! Somehow I feel like it was a "get prepared" message that I would be in that circumstance.

A Priori Proof For God's Existence
by non_trias_theos inthere are some propositions that rational substances know are true but do not know why they are true.
this concept is illustrated when one reflects on problems associated with self-referentiality (godel's theorem).
physicists also work with a priori ideas that they take as givens, notions without which thought would be impossible.

Hi Realist:
To be honest - only the classes from highschool - and that was quite some time ago.
I'm a computer geek - they don't reproduce, breathe, grow, etc - so biology is really a foreign subject to me. (well - except for "reproduction attempts")

That is interesting Realist - can you point me to a book or website on that subject? I am interested in following up with more study - thanks.

Babble aside, there is no logical proof for the existence of God
The other option is that life just happened by chance here and through evolution. I find that harder to swallow.
Can you show me one instance of one species being able to evolve into another species, one species mating with another species and producing offspring that is not steril? Without that...it appears to me that all the different species on earth have in fact been created. I believe in adaptation (some may call it micro-evolution), but I do not believe we (humans) and all other life forms evolved from a cellular glob living in the ocean.

Please note: Your new username MUST end with _jw
geeezzzzz - they even dictaed your user name?!
What if I wanted to end my user name with _Christian, or _GoJesus, maybe even _ForMyGod ??? Nope - must be _JW (Jehovah's Witness). I wonder if they'd allow _WTBS???
