  the following is a message from another jw forum i visited:.

  i came across a scripture (genesis 15:16) which says that god's people would return "in the fourth generation".

  true, it doesn't say where in the fourth generation but as they were to be in egypt for 430 years then if they return in the fourth we're looking at generations being divided up into approx.

  i was wondering if anyone wanted to come to my defense on this jw discussion board at http://www.beliefnet.org this jw that post as "rosemaybud" is driving me crazy and i am tired of trying to get her off my back.

  she never post about anything much, except to make hateful remarks to me or about me.

  i post as "loveofwaterlilies".

True, it doesn't say where in the fourth generation but as they were to be in Egypt for 430 years then if they return in the fourth we're looking at generations being divided up into approx. 100 year chunks. Sooooo....as the begining of the end began in 1914 we could be staring at 2015???? -ish? Even if you look at how Jehovah works in 40 days/years chunks you can go from 1914 plus 40 years to approx 1935 (helloooo great crowd!!) and from there to 1975 (hellooo 6000 years of man's existence) it's only a hop-skip and a jump to 2015! -ish This, of course, is just one person's opinion there - but I'm wondering if it isn't stemming from some trickle of "new light"....anyone else heard this one?? Sorry - I have to quit visiting with you HEATHENS and get busy - I only have 13 years left to put in enough service hours to be saved (gasp!!!!!!!!!)

  Visit from parents today

  my dad gave a talk in monticello today, so since macon is on their way home he and mom stopped by for a visit.. no mention of "coming back" or anything jw-related, but mom did give me a copy of the new world translation.

  so i've got a [version of the] bible now.

  previously she had asked me if i had a bible, and i said "well no, but i have read it several times".. they also didn't mention dateline, and i decided not to bring it up this time since the visit went well.

  Ask them if there have been any talks or articles in response to the Dateline show - tell them you'd like to keep an open mind about it and would like to hear the "other side". That way you're not putting them on the defensive, but opening the door for them to discuss it with you.

  Also - I wouldn't focus on the Dateline thing right away. It sounds like you had a nice visit - the most important thing is to rebuild ties with your parents first. If your relationship is in the "mending" phase it may not be the right time to bring up Dateline at all - but don't despair, there will be plenty of issues down the road regarding the JW's that you could discuss when the time is right.

  Take a less on from me. There are times that I have been so focused on proving the JW's wrong to someone that I have forgotten the whole reason I started - to gain back my relationship with them. It sometimes takes a lot more patience than I have!!!

  Hypocracy with DFing policy!

  since the sept. 15th 1983. watchtower about "how to treat disfellowshiped ones", no change in policy has taken place.. in spite of this....many ex-dubs still have family members who still smile, wave, or talk to us.....why?

  did they forget the policy?

  do they have their own opinion on how tht handle this?

  My parents have always spoken to me. At first their excuse was my husband (never a JW) and my children. But after a while they didn't use any excuses - just wanted to have a relationship with us. And since my dad was an elder, noone questioned him about it.

  Now that dad is gone I spend a lot of time with my mom. Again, noone has questioned it but I think they know how much my husband and I are taking care of her and her house so they see it as "family business".

  A chat with my JW sister

  a week ago i called my jw sister.

  she and i talk on a regular basis with a don't ask don't tell unspoken policy regarding the society.

  she has not "witnessed" to me in many years.

  cellomould has a point! When my mom starts to question things in the society she just gets even more "preachy" - like she wants to convince herself and others that it's true. If she could get me to agree with her on a spiritual issue then she'd feel better about ignoring her own doubts.

  Could be that your sister has some questions or doubts of her own.

  I have been quite amazed at how many posts on other JW boards are from long time witnesses (20+ years) that are really questioning the "authority" of the society now. Post after post is about unjustices they see within their congregations - always followed by "how could Jehovah let this happen?". The way I see it - the newer ones are completely immersed in the "we're a family - feel good" era and aren't scathed by the Dateline episode - it's the long time JW's that have been around a while, seen some of the doctrinal flip/flop and hypocrisy - they are questioning it now.

  Might be somewhat true - but there is definately a lot of whispering going on. I visit another JW board and have been reading their posts - quite a few are very upset over this ordeal and are questioning the society.

  lyineyes, and i love to dance at our favorite night club.

  bbq in the back yard with our best friends (this one's my favorite - food, beer, sunshine!!)
  water skiing
  snorkeling (I could do that one for hours in the right location!!)
  studying the bible

  Ok - last one may sound like I'm a bit of a nerd - but I think I've found a pretty healthy balance. I have lots of fun

  I measured mine - 9 inches !

  what were you expecting when you clicked that topic ?!?!.

  actually, i read an interesting bit of trivia somewhere that said mens nipples are always 9 inches apart.

  i measured mine and i'm spot on.. of course i'd be disappointed if all my vital stats were just 9 inches
