  lotus - thanks for your post.

  i know you'll get a lot of food throwing from us "not so patient" ex-jw's, but i'm sure your intentions are sincere.. i'm posting my response to your comments on being annointed here as i noticed that you are new and would probably see it here first.

  however, may i suggest that if you would like to continue a discussion on these topics with me, let's move it to the "beliefs & doctrines" form as it's probably more appropriate.. that being said - you are not one of the "elect few" with a heavenly hope, but one of many.

  Kingdom Melodies

  i was just listening to my new nicole c. mullen cd (she rocks!!

  ) and i had this thought...... i really enjoy christian rock music now, but i had never listened to it as a jw because i wasn't allowed.

  so instead i listened to that every uplifting ac/dc, metalica, scorpions (still favorites of mine).. the society did release the "kingdom melodies" on tape though and everyone bought the complete set.....did anyone here ever really enjoy that music?

  Shunning Us

  i guess that since i'm new i've probably missed something.......... but shouldn't "youknow" and "mavman" be shunning us?

  after all - we're like.....df'd, da'd, and possible even .

  don't get me wrong - i enjoy their posts because i always want to have an open mind and hear both sides of a discussion - but it seems to me that if they truly believed the organization was jehovah's only source of information and the only "ark" so to speak, they would do what it said and not be spending time (lots of time) on an anti-jw discussion board.. my dad was an elder before he passed away recently - he was always willing to listen to my questions and try to answer them (a good thing - open mind) - but he truly believed the jw was god's organization and would not in any way have anything to do with an anti-jw web-site, material, etc!!

  Who shuns you?

  after reading a number of posts it sounds like most of you have been shunned even by your immediate family members (parents, brothers, sisters)after you were df'd.. i am shunned by my sister-in-law - but she's it out of the entire family.

  my uncle, brothers, mother, and father (an elder before he passed away) all continued to associate with me - we even go out to dinners together.. so here's my question - is my family the minority?

  i thought that only non-family members had to shun you but family was ok as long as they don't discuss spiritual issues.

  They want me back!!

  just had to fill ya'll in on my latest here.

  as you know, i have been df'd for about 10+ yrs, but all of my extended family are still jw's.

  i sent one of my family members an e-mail with some questions (although i posed it as questions from me, they were actually a "seed" for this person to research the truth).

  No more shunning from me!

  i was a jw for years, and i constantly run into old "friends" at the store, gym, doctor's, cinema, etc.

  up to now, i have just looked the other way because i knew they couldn't talk to me.. but after reading some posts here - i realized that i was contributing to their shunning.

  acting like i was still under their law - well no more!!.

  Jesus - Michael or God?

  i've been researching this issue for myself - it's a doctrine i was still having problems understanding - is he or isn't he.... i came across a couple of interesting scriptures that i had not noticed before so thought i'd share them with ya'll:.

  1) genesis 1:26 - then god said, "let us make man in our image..." i was taught as a jw that god was speaking to jesus (michael) here.

  if that's true, and jesus/michael is an angel - that would mean that god created angels in his image also (since i refers to "image" as singular - it doesn't say images).

  Being Deceived

  what an interesting group here!

  i have a question to toss out to those of you who were once active jw's that are now born again.. i was a "zealous" jw - raised as one and was an aux pioneer, etc.

  my whole family is jw's (elders, etc.).

  When is Nissan 14?

  ok - here is an interesting one for ya'll.

  just throwing it out there for your thoughts.. the "lords evening meal" is always celebrated on the day that corresponds to nissan 14. my parents are still jw's and (as ya'll know) the memorial service is the "most important meeting of the year" - they literally cry if i don't go.

  so i'm thinking - i'll show my mother and father honor by going - i can fake it through one meeting right?!
