  The "Revelation" Book...did you HATE that thing as much as I did??

  ok the first time i thought it was pretty cool how they applied every little scripture to themselves.

  i sat rapt with my young children while we discussed wonderful things to come.

  the second time i was like...where's my old book with all the notes in the margins, im not looking all this sh-t up again!.

  i know this is slightly off-topic but i find alot of the discussion here somewhat depressing and most of it is far too cerebral for me.

  i (obviously) live in america and i'm a big fan of beer.

  light, dark, lager, ale, whatever.

  Holidays in our country

  i have noticed a few times that not all countries celebrate their holidays on the same day as canada or the us.

  canadians have a better knowledge of the american holidays because we tend to watch many american tv shows.. some holidays are the same where ever you live.

  but a lot are different, like mother's day.. so for the benefit of all what are the holidays your country or state/province celebrates?.

  did anyone answer the question like i did ?

  my gut always said no but my heart said yes.

  i wanted to believe in living forever like in those dam pictures, i wanted to be building those houses and hanging out with people on grassy mountain sides and have a freaking lion that would never rip my head off and that i could wrestle with.

  What Are "Unfair" Things JWs Made You Do?

  i was thinking how unnatural it is for most people to knock on stranger's doors and tell them that if they don't respond to what they were trying to get across, that they were going to be killed by god.

  .....then there's the obligation to join the theocratic ministry school and go on a platform and give talks---even if you had a phobia!

  .....or you're made to feel that you must answer at the meetings even if you're extremely shy.....are there other things that you can think of that made you totally uncomfortable?

  One time I worked with this guy that I had a huge crush on, he was my first love....I found out he used to be a witnes when he was a kid so being the good little dib I hauled him off to meeting and we immediately got called in the back, together mind you, he was not a witness, and I got a strict talking to about not sitting next to him at meeting because people might get the wrong idea, IN FRONT OF HIM. I was only 18 years old and compleely humiliated.

  Embarassed about JW relatives?

  do you feel embarassed if people know that you have jw relatives given the many and well known strange ideas they embrace eg about blood transfusions and the belief that all non jws will be killed soon?

  do you feel reluctant to admit that you have such relatives?

  I agree with Mustang that it is more embarassing to have been one..My Dad and I want to wear shirts to the family reunion this summer that say NLADUB(no longer a dub)....I think of all the stupid things I "stood up" for and acted so self righteous....then you realize what you were being self righteous about was a crock...

  When my husband is irritating me its a 5, but most of the time hes pretty good so Ill say a 10, plus Im in my second trimester of pregnancy and I have those great pregnancy hormones right now!!!

  Well, I was publicily disfellowshipped and then spent 3 years allowing people to shun me while I tried my hardest to get reinstated. I had to meet with elders 12 separate times and beg them to reinstate me while they in turn reminded me what a sinner I was. That was a tad uncomfortable.
