I left first, then researched, to make sure it wa the right decision. Turns out it was.

How deep did you search to finally quit being a JW?
by JH inin my case, i never did much research or read alot of apostate literature to get out of the jw religion.
all i looked at was their heart and how they treated me.
that alone spoke for itself..

Why child sex offenders must be NEUTRALIZED.
by Gregor inin many parts of the world when a male or female reaches puberty they are considered potential mates.
this is especially true in the culture of many countries in south america as well as the more rural areas of the us.
this is not what i am concerned about.

I agree, not tolerance for those type of people, no matter what their excuse might be. Is anyone on this board familiar with the Joseph Duncan case? It is right wher I live in North Idaho. HE broke into a home, killed a man, woman and her teenage son, and took off with the younger kids, 8 and 9 years old. He took them up to a campsite, molestd them repaeatedly, killed the boy in front of the girl and continued to molest her, They actually found her, with him at a Dennys. Now, he is in Jail, awaiting trial, and his attorneys are actually working to cut his 17 seperate confessions from court, and are trying to make this poor little girl testify in court with him in the courtroom. She has agreed to do it with him out of the room, but they are trying to convince the judge he should be there. And even trying to say she made up things....he killed her parents and two brothers and raped her repeatedly, what on earth would she make up that could make it any worse?? Someone like that doesn't deserve a trial, just straight to the chair

Does anyone really have a chaperone when out with the opposite sex?
by WingCommander insomehow, i seriously doubt it.
it was spoken about when i was growing up that that was supposed to be the "loving arrangement", but i never heard, saw, or did it myself, nor did anyone else.
since i wasn't allowed out of the house, much less date until i was 16, it wasn't really an issue for me anyway.

I never had too, my parents never made me. But I know alot of people that really weren't alone until they were married. Is that why they look so miserable a year later??? They found out they hated each other after all?? I know this one older really self righteous annoying type divorcee who had a date for the first time in like 10 years or something and he met her (they couldn't drive together becuase then they would be alone) at the Skate Plaza, which no one over the age of 14 goes too. The next date he met her at the movies to watch Shrek. I think its so funny like they were 15 years old. And no dinner either, that was too intimate, just Skateing and Shrek. Real charmers those JW men!

Men, women and toilet seat etiquette
by Gregor ini've never quite understood the big deal about men leaving the toilet seat up but since i hear so much about it i try to comply.
i do have a pet peeve.
sometimes when i lift the seat there are obvious signs on the underside that a female has used it and not bothered to 'tidy up'.

I agree with Fleur, everyone needs to keep the lid down when they are done. I personally find it sickening to walk into a bathroom with a seat up, I feel like germs are flying at me. I hate toilets anyway, but especially looking at the underside of one, yuck.

THE REAL REASON FAMILY MEMBERS SHUN.........................
by vitty ini think the real reason family members shun their "loved ones" is not because they love you and think it will bring you back, or that they are being obedient to god, but that you have totally embarrassed them, brought the family name into disrepute and it now brings into question how spiritual they are.. if they shun you, in their minds, they think the elders, and dubs will not think less of them.
its all about what the "neighbours " think not what the bible teaches.. its about pride not love.. what do you think?.
oh and it gives them brownie points to be used at armageddon.......................just in case.. .

mama1119
Although my family has never shunned me, I know alot of people whose family did. I think alot of it has to do with fear. Fear of being labled themselves, and fear of finding out what you know, they may be forced to face things they don;t want to. I agree it is a pride issue as well, maybe even a little jealousy you are out and they are not. And of course, ITS A CULT!!!

Paramount drops Tom Cruise
by Scully ini just heard the announcement that paramount studios has dropped tom cruise.
even though his recent movies have brought in record breaking revenues, they cited his recent "unacceptable" off-screen behaviour as the reason why his contract will not be renewed.. excellent business decision imo.. tom cruise's mission aborted at studio.

Problem with an elder
by Zico ini have a friend in my congregation.
he's completely indoctrinated, and genuinely believes everything the organisation teaches, but he's still a good person, and he stands up for things when he knows somethings wrong.
as you can imagine, this often causes problems, and there is an arrogant elder who he has had many run ins with in the past.

Im not sure I've heard of this" not serving alcohol unless an elder is present policy". I this new, or does the elder just want to be present to get his booze on or what. Is this a real policy???

The Dub is dead. Surprise!
by target inseveral times i saw john edward asked about people who died who did not believe in an after life.
his answer:"have you ever been to a surprise party?........".
i know some here believe in an after life, some don't.

Ive thought about this. I beththey wish they could warn their fellow dubs. Maybe they try to but the stubborn little dubs won't listen.

Am I angry? Hell, yes!
by Fatfreek inwhy are departing jw's bitter?
i say the bitterness is directly proportional to the amount of emotional committment we made to their teachings.
if we accepted them wholeheartedly, the bitterness was immense as we discovered the lies and coverups, while getting the blame on the missed date predictions, and seeing the ever-increasing legalistic structure of the society, not to even mention the shunning by loved ones who still remain.

I only get angry every once in a while nowdays. I used to be all the time. I think it had to do with the committee meetings, shunning, the beeter than thou I am perfect attitiudes, and then of course finding out it was all for nothing!
