hey y'all,.
how many of you have tattoos, and if so what are they?
what is the meaning, if any, behind them?
I got my first one in Feb '04. Yep, DF at the time so felt that it didn't really matter, I sucked spiritually anyway so why not... It's two pawprints by my right hip. My second one was in May '05. Not DF, but not really caring either what people thought of me. It's a wirey cat in my mid back. My pawprints, I sort of designed myself but the cat I got from a flash site. It wasn't 6 months later and Baby Phat perfume came out with yep, that cat as part of its logo. Argh.

a shameless spinoff of the tattoo thread i admit, but i didn't want to hijack it.
what piercings were "allowed" and not allowed in your area, what have you got, when did you get it, and what do you think of piercings now that you are no longer a jw?.
where i lived the rule was no piercings at all for men with no exceptions.
I have three each ear, but use only the one. I tried a cartilage but it still hurt after 6 months so I gave up. I've had my navel for about 7 years... I think it took just a few months to heal; I didn't do much more than just keep it clean. No peroxide or alcohol.
I didn't do the navel to be rebellious, I just liked the way it looked. Still do.

having spent a couple of months in the world after a decade of devotion to the wt i have began to realise how hardly any of my friends have problems with illness.
it dawned on me a while ago that many, many witnesses have problems with health in one way or another.
how many times did you go to the hall and ask someone how they were doing to be told, 'oh, just struggling on', or 'i have`nt been too great' or 'i`m feeling a bit low just now'.
When is the last time you were in an Emergency room? They are normal people there. And ill to boot.
I like Skittles. The red ones. ~merfi
.
that is, if you are able to without the prospect of facing a three-man kangaroo court appointed by jerhover to keep the congregation clean from apostate influences.. i'll go first: .
<---- that's me, also.
Well, here goes my first try (eta: looks like 3rd time is a charm LOL)
there are just so many i would love to meet, some more attainable than others.. sparkplug.
misspeaches.
damselfly.
I would love to meet all of you! (there, nobody left out ) So much in common with many of you, it's impossible to just pick one or a handful. Geez, I'd look forward to a local fest more than I ever did any silly assembly.
So, Daystar...
I'd meet everyone. But specifically, I'm looking for the member who is female, single, aged 24-40 years, 5'4" - 5'10", 120-140 lbs, bra size C or less, and hot.
I fit all the numerical requirements. My requirements, in turn, are single, male, 28-40, taller than me (I'm 5'5") and 160-200. Oh yeah, and if ya have a shaved head, I'm so...so... *shiver*... yeah, I like that.

in australia we have only voluntary blood donations.
it's quite amazing really that people regularly take at least half an hour out of their lives to give blood.
so i joined them.
Here too. I gave blood on April 12th for the first time. And I wore my "Blood Donor" sticker to the memorial where I partook and crossed myself. I had the blood bank take pictures and they're putting me on their website too. good for you!
Awesome! I gave for the first time April 4th. Wore my big, huge coban bandaid thingy around town and put the sticker on the jeep. I wasn't *quite* as brave as you, but did write an editorial in the local newspaper about my first-timer experience. I mentioned how in the past, "misinterpreted scriptures and dangerous doctrine" had prevented me from doing my part in saving lives. Being DA'd, I didn't hear any feedback directly, but the ex, a JW (in a city 2.5 hours away), got it emailed to him from a 'friend' in my local cong. So I know word was out. Yesss... But on a side note, it feels pretty darn good to be saving a life. ~merfi
3the teachers of the law and the pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery.
they made her stand before the group 4and said to jesus, "teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.
5in the law moses commanded us to stone such women.
This scripture really affects me. I went through a JC for "adultery/fornication" (too long and painful to re-write here, but it's in my newbie post) and when I found the scripture some time after, my jaw dropped. Agreed -- how can the "loving, Christian" religion JW profess themselves to be, not imitate Jesus' example here.
I'd love to quote this back at the elders who were on my JC. However, since they didn't follow this, but instead ripped my heart and soul out for four hours, they effectively took my blinders off and chased me out. So for that, I do thank them for my freedom... As well, it's not worth my time or the ink to write it to them.
Many of those that I've told my JC/DA etc story to know this scrip, and the JW not following it have made many of my friends and family just that more determined to slam the door in their faces.

Not a guy, but have 2c on resistance training/weight lifting. I've been doing this off and on for years and think it's one of the greatest things for all-over strength and [for me] esteem, as well as a social thing as there are all levels and personalities at my gym. I started out following [very] loosely the "Body for Life" program about 6 years ago. It's high-protein, medium to low carbs and low fat (the fats are the 'healthy' ones like in nuts, flaxseed oil etc) for the eating end of things. I didn't have the time or right schedule for the weight training or cardio end of it, so would usually just peruse through muscle mags for routines and use them. I'm in the middle of one right now that I found in Muscle & Fitness -- it's a 'beginner/re-beginner' workout that I'm liking fairly well. I've also added in a few supplements, but they aren't necessary; I'm just trying them out to see what happens. :)
The more muscle gained, the higher a person's metabolism = fat loss if the calories are kept somewhat low. The rule of calories in < calories burned is the simplest way to lose weight. Adding resistance training helps immensely as well.
Anyways, just my plug for resistance training. :)

i read in a newspaper yesterday that human were originally o type a type originated 20,000 years ago in europe and b originated in asia.. what is jw theory?
You can bet they won't say that it's evolution. I'm guessing the average JW will just get that blank dummy look, then say that Jehovah created humans with the ABO blood groups and that the newspaper is wrong and probably apostate and and....
