i was talking with a woman today who admires the jws, though not one of them, and she was telling me things like they are the only people with strong principles and families and the only ones that really try to apply god's laws in their lives and uphold biblical truth.
also that there are many diseased individuals among the blood donors and most donated blood is contaminated so the dubs are doing well to avoid transfusions.
i was going to say to her i am surprised that you did not join them.
I would have started with "that may be mostly true, but...." then continue on with my 'truth about the truth' topic of choice.

when i was a kid (long time ago), wally gobitis used to visit our cong occasionally.
for those not familiar with gobitis, here's a quick jw history refresher: .
back in the late 1930s gobitis, a jw, was sued by the minersville board of education when his children refused to salute the flag in school.
My 12yo did a one-person "skit"/reinactment of Lillian Gobitis' flag salute refusal for History Day at school. The kids are encouraged to contact the people they're portraying, so my daughter did. She and Lillian exchange letters now and then... (yep, for real) Lillian is still a JW, living in GA.

july km confirms that this is the next book for consideration at bookstudies starting next year.
Think of how many people need to get a new copy
Did they "encourage" getting a new (softcover?) book to study this time? Did they re-publish with changes? I don't know how they're gonna pull this one off -- so much "old light" that the corrective notes in the margins would be more than the paragraphs....
I'm so glad I don't have to go listen to this crap.

hey folks, .
i changed this topic and decided to write a more humorous question.
i wasn't sure how much is allowed on the comical side, but after reading some other posts i see that i am not the only wise ass here.. well, tonight my nba team plays game 5 of catch up and get ahead of the dallas maverages!
Anyway, I was wondering, have any of you ever been disfellowshiped or shunned because of your clothes?
No, but counseled many many times. Basically told that I was causing reactions in brothers when I didn't have the right to "fulfill" these reactions. Ew. The 'not fair' thing about this is that I wasn't wearing anything others weren't, and I just didn't understand the double standard. But whatever. I'm free of the pettiness.
I think purple pants would rock!

i haven't been to a meeting in 3 years and when i tell people about my past, i tell them i used to be a witness.
Having never been a truly good one, it's a relief now to say that I am "no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses"...
When asked about religious past, I usually say "I used to be a JW..." Sometimes people will ask why I left, so I'll tell them. Usually, they'll just somewhat congratulate me on getting free.
Calliope -- BTDT! LOL

i've seen some threads here on the dcs this year but i don't remember reading about a resolution that may have been passed.
i saw this on another discussion board and have no idea if it's accurate or not.
it is posted that this occurred on sunday during the last talk.
Sometimes Jehovah puts wrong things in the magazine just to test us because it really isn't Jehovah.... If we don't accept the teaching about the seven trumpets of Revelation then that means we are being unfaithful to Jehovah and his organization. we know that it's BS. We shouldn't should proudly leave the truth lie just (among many other reasons) because some of the things taught are clearly not true. We need to accept expose the false with the the WTS/GB claimed to be true as a test of loyalty mark of a cult to Jehovah's way of doing things.
i had mentioned before, that i'm having a 10 year out of the org party!!!!
to celebrate, i *stole* a copy of the revelation book from my mother, and i planned on sacrificing it in my fire pit, and roasting marshmallows over it.
the book is very well used, underlined, and all that.. since then, there has been nu lite that they're studying this 18 year old book at the book study again.
I think you should return it to her, but maybe put some of your "own" notes in the margins. Maybe a folded up UN letter in that chapter, a few notes on 1914 near the appropriate paragraph... you get the idea.

it's on auction at ebay:.
http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-new-live-with-jehovahs-day-in-mind-watchtower_w0qqitemz7042082878qqihz014qqcategoryz29223qqrdz1qqcmdzviewitem.
but it looks like it's only available to jws.
Ok, maybe I shouldn't have, but I did... I wrote a question to the seller:
Just wondering -- I know this publication was made available at no cost at the recent District Convention. I believe donations are encouraged to cover the Society's cost, however. If you indeed sell this, will you donate to the WWW etc at your local Kingdom Hall? I don't think a Witness in good conscience could actually bid and buy this without knowing that there would be a donation, so please let me know your intentions.
Thanks,
Jen
No, my name isn't Jen... LOL

for most of us who are going to the 'delieverance at hand' district convention we want to be low on the radar.
but wouldn't it be terrible if we missed out meeting someone else from the board while we attended the same convention?
listing what convention your going to might be to much of a give away for some people, but i really don't care.
I will NOT be going to Lincoln, Nebraska DC June 30-July 2.
Doing fireworks with the family instead.
