Some things that annoy me about the WTS
by Leander ini'm still currently a jw myself and i'm serving as a minsterial servant in a limited capacity.
(a few weeks ago i was vocal about the doubts i've had and the elders made the decision to allow me to stay on as a ms but without giving talks) .
1. recently as in the last few years i've been paying more attention to the various members in the congregation and i've observed some interesting things.

This may be my all-time fave post. Every comment made here hits the mark dead on. I've thought through all of these issues at one time or another. Thanks to Leander for raising these points, and to all those who commented.

a love so hypocritical ........
by Richie ini am curious to find out how many of you have experienced this: when there is a sickness in the family, there are very few witnesses who really deeply care from the heart, unless of course the person who is ill is very strong in the truth, has many hours in fieldservice, attends the meetings without interrruption or is a aux.- or regular pioneer.
yet, witnesses who are not as strong in the truth will be visited less or more likely not at all.
for instance, i hear of so many instances where a sick person had to go to the hospital and everybody in the congregation would know that, yet the only ones showing real care were their immediate family members who manifested enough natural compassion and love to visit these ones.

Richie, you are correct. The love is performance-related and very conditional.
Of course, in human relationships, at times the same thing happens. Sometimes we tend to show greater care to those who meet our approval.

My favorite Bible books are James, Daniel, and Proverbs. I also like Genesis and Exodus, until Exodus gets bogged down in the later stages with the whole Tabernacle design thing.
Most tedious and least favorite...well, gotta pick those first 9 chaps of 1 Chronicles, with all those geneologic listings. Then there's Levitcus, a wonderful book if you like plowing through the stages of leprosy and various stipulations of the Law.

Your favorite and least liked society publication?
by Celtic indid you have a favourite publication?
what was your least liked publication?
creation book for the shady wt take on science.. unseen spirits, do they help us or do they harm us?

I think my fave is still the Commentary on the Letter of James. It's a straightfoward commentary and the commnets on each verse are easy to find. The Revelation Climax book is layed out similarly, though that book is not one of my faves.
My least favorite is probably the All Scripture Inspired book, followed closely by the Creation book. The newer Creator book is pretty good.

Freddyhall baby, you won asshole of the year last year. Looks like you are the best candidate for this year's award too. I did not want to refer to you as an asshole in my original post on this matter, electing to call you "weirdest" poster instead. Well, looks like asshole is the better word to use for you, since you have just referred to most of the other posters as such.
