Jehovah's Witnesses and counting field service time: a.k.a. -"FU#KING THE DOG and selling the puppies!"
( please forgive my language, Emma.)
i may not have put this in the correct spot, but i do think it's scandalous the way time gets counted now.
i've seen a cart at the edge of our farmer's market, never anyone close enough to talk.
yesterday was a drizzly day and there were two carts set up, covered in plastic, "witnessing" on their own.

i asked an old jw friend of mine why so many baptized individuals leave the jw religion.
"did it ever occur to you, old friend, that maybe they know something that you don't know and have valid reasons for leaving?
", i asked.. his response set me back for an answer.
"What category do you fall under?" - Bonsai
NONE OF THE ABOVE!
Those three 'reasons' are ignorant pigeon-holing and labeling from an ill informed, self-righteous, mind controlled, God deluded religious zealot.
JEHOVAH'S WITNESS = No thinking allowed!
this notice is not official yet and it should be confidential until released thru the proper channels.
a friend of mine told me about a huge elders meeting in southern california.
the subject was the relocation and dissolution of some congregations; it seems that this is the result of some project that has been going on for some time and is going to be implemented right now.. please let me know if this is happening all over the country?.

i know that it must seem silly to ask, but my brother and his family think that the big a will arrive before they die.
i tried to explain to my brother that everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died and only jesus has [physically] rose from the dead.. it is amazing that anyone could buy that line.
what crazy cult culture that could make people believe such nonsense?!.
with the proliferation of social media, more people have been reached by the watchtower organization than ever before in history.
it sure took them long enough!.
at the same time, anti-jw activism has caught fire to counterbalance the propaganda.. there are all sorts of activists operating "out there" using books, videos, podcasts, facebook, and incidental un-witnessing to puncture and perforate the false message and counterfeit codswallop of the governing body.. __________.
This website/discussion forum is doing a great 'anti-witness' work all by itself. In just the last 15 days, I counted 35 new members. To paraphrase the title of one of your posts, 'When the student is ready, the teacher arrives'...........certainly many 'students' that are ready to learn 'the truth about the truth' come to this site and learn from the vast amount of 'teachers' here that have unlimited experience in life after Jehovah's Witnesses. This 'quiet' , not in your face activism that is displayed by this forum is not to be undervalued by any of us that post here. It is an excellent two-way street. We each have been helped by someone here and in turn no doubt have helped someone else to see the 'truth about the truth' more clearly. Thumbs up to all who post here with the intent of helping their fellow man!

Actually, from a 'mental standpoint' I was never fully in, so I had a rather odd outlook on the whole 'you will never die' concept. In the 70's, the Congregation Servant and the Bible Study Servant convinced me to put all my doubts about the organization aside since 'Armageddon will be here by 1975'. So I hedged my bets, put my nose to the grindstone, pioneered and became a Bethelite. I figured since Armageddon was coming in 1975 I had just two chances at life. Either I would live into the New System by Jehovah's grace or I would die at Armageddon by Jehovah's justice. Either way I felt that I had nothing to lose. Surprise! No Armageddon in 1975 and I have been trying to live life on my terms since 1980. The background noise and indoctrination are still there but I try my best to keep moving forward. I am a very, very fortunate man because I 'die' about three times a week anyway! "La petite mort" is the only death that I want to experience right now..................but I know that at 61 years old, the final countdown is on.

On her deathbed in the Spring of 2000 my fanatical, 'dyed in the wool' Jehovah's Witness mother still thought that Armageddon was just around the corner. She told me that if she could just leave the hospital and get home, she knew that Armageddon was only a few weeks away and that if she could just hold on, she would live to be in Paradise. A very, very sad situation indeed!
he asks the barkeep for 13 glasses of water.
he turns to his 12 companions and winks....
Jesus walks into a bar............
"What can I get for you?" - Bartender
"Just a beer." - Jesus
"Bad day?" - Bartender
"That's none of your business, but if you must know, I've just been hanging around all day !" - Jesus
"I'm just trying to be friendly. Don't get cross with me!"- Bartender
just a quick question.
who actually writes the awake!
and the watchtower publications ?
I don't know who writes the AWAKE magazine, but I am pretty sure that this photo is a group shot of the translation committee of the NEW WORLD TRANSLATION BIBLE revised edition.
ok not to throw no shade or no disrespect to the jw religion.
which i truly do respect because my girlfriend is part of but i just don't understand, i have researched so much about it.
so much about how its discouraged for her to be with me just cause of different religion.
Since you have questioned how her faith as a Jehovah's Witness will affect your establishing a relationship with her, would it not also be fair to her to understand what it means for a Catholic to establish a relationship with a non-Catholic and for such an individual to marry outside of their faith?
"What are the requirements for marrying a non-Catholic Christian?"
"Technically, you only need permission, not a dispensation, to marry a Protestant Christian. To obtain permission to marry a non-Catholic baptized Christian, the following conditions must be fulfilled: (1) You declare that you are prepared to remove dangers of defecting from the faith; (2) you make a sincere promise to do all in your power so that all offspring are baptized and brought up in the Catholic Church; (3) the other party is to be informed at the proper time about the promises which you are to make, in such a way that it is certain that he or she is truly aware of the promise and your obligation; and (4) both parties are to be instructed about the purposes and essential properties of marriage which neither of the contracting parties is to exclude.
As for being married by a priest, you will be required to be married in the presence of your bishop or pastor ( or a priest or deacon delegated by either of them ) unless you pursue a dispensation to permit you to have a non-Catholic ceremony. This is known as a "dispensation from form" since it allows you to marry without observing the Catholic form of the marriage ceremony." - Jim Blackburn Catholic Answers.com
It seems that the Catholic religion discourages marrying out of the faith but is more accepting than the Jehovah's Witness religion. However, as a faithful Catholic there are certain 'promises' about your family that you must make to the Church, such as raising all children Catholic even though you are in a 'mixed marriage'. My advice is don't even consider it. If you are serious about your religion and she is serious about hers than if you get married you will open yourself up to heartache, family discord, unhappiness and a lifetime struggling for real intimacy. Find another Catholic to marry and move on with your life.
