"Yet we know there was in fact a John F. Rutherford who was originally from Missouri and who we know was in the Knights of Pythias and was president of a lumber company with many members who were also members of the Knights of Pythias" - Jeffro Well Jeffro..........the plot thickens! Apparently, John (J.F.) Rutherford had been living in Bluff City Arkansas since at least 1892. Your claim that John F. Rutherford moved to Arkansas from Missouri needs to be substantiated. I found court records in the case of Godell v. Bluff City Lumber dated January 21, 1893 wherein J.F.(John) Rutherford was noted as being the vice-president and secy/treasurer of the Bluff City Lumber Company. Until proven otherwise, I stand with ILoveTTATT2. It's possible, but highly improbable that John (J.F.) Rutherford would travel over 460 miles from Bluff City, Arkansas to Booneville, Missouri to attend his lodge meetings when automobiles and easily navigable roads were in their infancy. If indeed he was some sort of 'celebrity toastmaster' making a special visit to this lodge, I think that the newspaper article would have been presented with more fanfare. -

SPARLOCK the Warrior Wizard. Evil magical figure inspired by Satan and his demons to mislead little witness children. Not to be tolerated under any circumstances.
MICKEY MOUSE the SORCERER'S APPRENTICE. Benign magical figure inspired by nice old Walt Disney to bring joy and happiness to little children including those of Jehovah's Witnesses. Viewed with tolerance and acceptance.
Pay close attention little Witness children. In your religion, it is not whether something is right or wrong but how it is viewed by your leaders and other influential persons in the religion. Learn to play the game, keep your mouth shut and you will get along fine!

Whatever happened to the old days when the Watchtower Society would fight any case that involved Jehovah's name and sovereignty 'tooth and nail' right up to the Supreme Court? The motto of Judge Rutherford and Hayden Covington was: "Press the battle to the gate!" Boy have times changed and something is just not right with Watchtower settling out of court on these abuse cases. I am not saying that their being willing to settle is an admission of guilt, but for some reason they seem reluctant to pursue exoneration of their so-called 'good name' as the 'only true religion'; Jehovah's clean organization.

If anyone here has a Wikipedia account it would be kind of neat to post this information on the Wikipedia entry for KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS. There is a section on the page with a list of Notable Pythian Knights.

The Inherent Founding Paganism of the Jehovah's Witnesses
by Finkelstein inthere is an inherent founding association with paganism through and by the founding leader of the watchtower corporation that has to be realized and accepted as such.
c t russell was once the head editorial writer for the wts.
right up until his death in 1916. russell had associated himself with freemasons for awhile, giving talks at freemason halls and handing out literature he published at the same time.. he made up more or less a commercialized version of the gospel based upon a new era for mankind which he calculated by measuring the dimensions of the great pyramid of giza.

Correction: Not 'day for an inch' but rather 'an inch for a year'. Russell used the Bible for his 'day for a year' prophetic fulfillments and used the Great Pyramid for his 'inch for a year' prophetic fulfillments.

Watchtower is loaded with two faced lying S.O.B'S..............When they don't want to 'disclose' under the circumstances of one trial they claim 'Clergy-Penitent privilege' and when they don't want to 'disclose' under the circumstances in a different trial, they claim that the Elders are "just lay persons". They can't have it both ways. Make up your minds Watchtower Legal and take what is coming to you like men............not the weasels that you are.

Russell 'stole' his pyramid 'theology' from C. Piazzi Smyth who was the author of the book: OUR INHERITANCE IN THE GREAT PYRAMID printed in 1864. Russell adapted his own interpretation to the measurements of the passageways inside the pyramid; yet he kept Smyth's theory of 'pyramid inches' in order to make 'prophetic' calculations based on a 'day for an inch' .

I was about 11 years old when this came out. It was even shown in private homes to small groups of witnesses and their families. After seeing this film, each time I heard a locker door slam in school the catchphrase "peace of mind and self respect" would run through my mind! I can't believe that Max Larsen and George Couch played 'loving' and concerned fathers in this film. Having been a Bethelite I learned that George Couch was as mean as a snake and Max Larsen always seemed cold and aloof. They never were fathers in real life but 'they played one on tv'. (Actually, I knew that George Couch was a jerk even before I became a Bethelite.)

This whole Sparlock bull$hit reminds me of what happened to me as a child. My beloved (non witness) grandfather bought me a toy army jeep like the one pictured. That same night I was playing with it on the bedroom floor and my mother asked me what I was doing. I told her that I was playing airport baggage transportation like at Logan airport. One of the 'servants' at our hall had that exact job and I told her that was what I was playing in my imagination. She called me a liar and said that I was playing war and that Jehovah hates war. The she proceeded to throw away my brand new toy and banish me to bed. End of discussion. I have to agree with Doubtfully Yours above about the paranoid action of many witness parents. All my mother had to do was say 'that's great Sparky. I'm glad you are not playing war. Tomorrow we can go to the hobby store and buy a 19 cent container of paint and paint over all the army emblems. Then you can continue with your fun. You know that your grandfather loves you very much and he would really enjoy seeing you have so much fun.' The reality in 'Witness World' is far removed from any propaganda video on JW.tv.org!
