Are single sisters happier?

this question is for the ladies out there, but if you are a man and you'd like to share your thoughts on the following topic you are welcomed to do so.

given the wt society's view on women, did any of you ladies gave up on the idea of getting married "in the truth".

in such case, did you sometimes feel that you were missing out?

First off, you must remove your 'rose colored' glasses. Many Jehovah's Witnesses are indeed good and decent people. However, when you scratch beneath the surface of most of them, their lives are mostly an act. They are devoted to and living a 'system' known as the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses. They are more interested in 'looking good' than being 'good'. Jehovah's Witnesses have just as many personal problems as 'worldly' people but they are just better at hiding them and keeping them away from the scrutiny of others. You seem rather young. My advice to you would be to work on yourself first before you even entertain thoughts of marriage. If you want to be 'disciplined and virtuous' than take it upon yourself to act in such a manner in all your dealings with people. You are a whole and decent person right now and you don't need a set of religious rules to tell you how to be a good human being.

i have been tossing the idea around a bit and wondering if it was woth it from personal experience?

the org is now demanding money from the witnesses, via the latest letter sent to elders regarding the circuit's excess funds.

succeeded in getting elders everywhere to hand over their own congregation's "excess funds" - now their circuit's bank balances are going to be plundered.. the spineless and subservient elders will cooperate without a whimper, because they're afraid of losing their little bit of power which the org has bestowed upon them.

Is this the earliest WT reference to 1975?

i thought that the 1975 thing started in the mid to late 60's, but it seems the seeds were sown two decades earlier.is this the earliest reference to it?.

What is the alternative to JW?

i mean this with all due respect, i would like to hear from genuine people who think jw have it wrong and then what is the truth?.

im not talking about silly little quibbles here and there.. is jehovah real?

The question for me was not, 'what IS the alternative to Jehovah's Witnesses?' but rather what ARE the alternatives to Jehovah's Witnesses?. Having been raised in the religion and never really believing it, I have had to continually ask myself that question. My life became a continual process of self discovery and discovery of whats 'out there'. The final destination in life is death. Stop worrying about the destination and enjoy the process. Since I have Libertarian leanings, I always seek out a Libertarians opinion. Thomas Szasz is my favorite Libertarian. I share this quote with you in hopes that it will help you as it has helped me: "If you truly yearn to be free, you must first recognize all the ways you are unfree. Only after constructing a complete catalogue of the constraints upon you can you begin to consider which ones you can and want to diminish or eliminate and at what cost (to you and others you cherish). Your self-liberation will be complete when you are left with constraints to which you willingly, perhaps even eagerly, submit." Good luck, Formerbrother.

How did Matthew Use the Word "Generation"?

when splane wanted a scripture that demonstrated the bible's use of the word he went all the way back to moses and used ex.

1.6. he could have stayed in the same book and used matthew chapter 1,written by the same hand.

It appears that the Governing Body (tm) may have 'stolen' the overlapping generations idea from the study of Economics. There is a theory called the "Overlapping Generations Model" in Economic Theory. Just Google Overlapping Generations Model and you will be surprised at what you find. It appear that the 'rulers' of Jehovah's Witnesses have never had an original thought starting with Pastor Russell right down to our day.

okay, i posted this in a thread that got locked and buried.

since then i've been really busy and have overdosed on christmas music in the past week.

so, i'm resurrecting this "holy day" holiday that most people will unknowingly be celebrating tomorrow.

YMCA ? Are we allowed to go there or not?

half of our congregation goes there to work out because of the good pool facilities and prices, and the other half think that it's wrong due to it's old charter.

but no one is enforcing the wrong or right of it.

i'd be interested in knowing how this is being applied worldwide.
