We never had the free food in the UK, but I fondly remember the food that we could buy at the Twickenham assembly.
Lovely bacon baps and fresh doughnuts, yum. Anyone else from Blighty remember that?

I miss the "free" food.
by Justice-One infree food.
it used to make the conventions almost bearable.
i rememeber telling the wife and kids to not put anything in any contribution box, because as the head of the family, i had taken care of it.

Why do the majority of "newbies" disappear ???
by kid-A ini have noticed that, in general, there is a "core" of regular posters on jwd that have been members for several years.. however, it seems the vast majority of "newbies" disappear after a couple posts, days or perhaps a week.
how many "welcome" or "introduction" .
threads have we had here where the new member disappears within a day or so, never to post again?

I am a newbie and love reading the posts on this forum. I would like to post more but just don't have the time or I can't think of anything good to say.
I have met up with a few people that I've met through the forum, that was cool. -

"If You Needed A Blood Transfusion Would You Take It?''
by minimus inthat was the question that i was asked this morning by the nurse before undergoing my procedures at the hospital.
she said, "some people can't take blood because of their religious beliefs.
i used to be a jehovah's witness and if needed i will take a blood transfusion".......now that was the first time i ever expressed those words!

Yeah I would, bring it on. I ain't dying for some antiquated, obsolete law from thousands of years ago.
Also I would let my kids have blood and their jw dad will just have to lump it! -

Ban cigarette production?
by greendawn ingiven that cigarettes are harmful to health why don't the governments shut down the factories producing them?
it's strange how they tolerate them but not marijuana.
smoking costs a lot of money to the health services of all countries, while the tobacco industries make their profits.

I wish it would be banned then my teenage children couldn't smoke. I hate it and everything about it.
However, it's all about the money isn't it. It makes too much in tax for the government to ever ban it.

Perhaps I should try harder to understand God.
by nicolaou in(note: i've been somewhat of a ranting atheist for the last year or two but i've tried to be nice with it!).
if a human father punishes his disobedient children by killing them he will be locked up if not executed.
however, most people would concede that such a man must have had severe mental and/or emotional problems to have reached that point.

Maybe god exists but the bible is all poppycock!
Who knows really, none of it makes any sense.
A loving god would not and could not, do or allow all those deaths, past, present and future.
Thinking about it does your head in because you keep going round in circles.
