So in other words, Nellie, it made you throw up a little in your mouth. I had to laugh because my GF who sent it to me is a strong JW and I just know how she took it (picture the "aahhhh" expression and hand over heart, along w/ the bobbing of the head)

Maybe the WTBTS has its own Urban Legend Department that makes them up and spreads them the globe around. I know there were other threads about urban legends folklore and we had a lot of the same ones.

back after a strange year. update
by fairchild inhi i am back.
haven't posted here in a long time.
i even went back to the jws for a while and then quit again.. i lost my best friend to throat cancer in march 2006. we had been very close for 14 years and i was convinced that i would still be able to 'feel' him, or best case scenario, 'talk' to him after he died.

Fairchild - glad to see you were able to figure out how to log back on as yourself.
I completely understand where you are coming from. I had a very very close friend of mine die a couple months ago unexpectedly. He was my age and he died of a sudden heart attack. He was an inactive JW and there was a funeral talk for him by a JW, but it was so not comforting at all. It was the typical, the wages of sin is death and now he is in line for a resurrection, it is a celebration, I just wanted to scream at them all. It is not a celebration, it is a tragedy. He died way to young. He left a family behind. He left us behind. It also breaks my heart because his mother keeps talking about seeing him in paradise. You know for her sake, I hope she does, but I myself, do not buy into it. The worst part of it for me was this guy was the closest thing to a brother. He was not your norm, but I loved him for it and he loved me. We had a very sibling relationship, we fought, but we loved each other and had each others' back. I have a brother that is so much older than me that I don't know him, so this guy was more my brother than my fleshly brother.
Hang in there. Find out what brings you comfort and joy and go with that. It might take a while. I am still searching. I do yoga and meditation, but I am having a hard time with my meditations because I cannot quiet my mind. So I have made an appointment with a reiki healer. I was recommended to her by a nutritionist friend. I will see how it goes and see if it helps. I am open to anything that will quiet the sounds of my breaking heart.
Much peace to you. L_G

My oldest, 14, was the leader of the group. She didn't want to be here. She had a good time and it was good for her. But several times she told her mother that she didn't want to be here and that none of them wanted to be here. Those were exagerations as were many of her comments.
Not uncommon for a 14 year old girl. Just keep in mind that she may feel split, between loving you and wanting to be there and her mother's disappointment if she were to express that.
Also, from experience, I watched a mother who left the religion and her children. Her kids stayed w/ her from time to time. She would point out to her JW ex-hubby the things that the kids liked doing that she knew would be frowned on by him. In the end it back fired on her because the kids were afraid to be themselves around her since she would relay things to their dad and they would get in trouble by him for enjoying the "worldly" things.
The one thing I think we (all her GFs as well as her) learned was that if you have an open door policy that eventually your children will learn where the true love is and they will seek it. It is like refreshing water on a hot summer day, your body craves it and if their mother cannot love them unconditionally because of the WTBTS' black and white approach to mothering and love, then you will always be there for them. And when the day comes when your children see you as their dad who loves them regardless of their beliefs and they will love you regardless of your beliefs (whatever you all believe), you will have more to toast then just the new year.
Peace to you and your kids.

Homeopathy popular in Jehovah's Witnesses ?
by Tigerman inis homeopathy ( the treatment of a disease using, in small doses, drugs that produce symtoms like those of the disease so that one's natural immune system can fight off the disease ) popular among active jw's ?
my son who was raised as a jw has a large ( adult male palm size ) fatty growth on his back.
his jw mother is treating him with homeopathy, as is a so called doctor.

I believe in alternative medicine. My JW mother is the biggest hypochondriac there is and she went to a regular doctor for a slight cough or sneeze, so I don't think homeopathic medicine it is a solely JW belief. In the States we have a hard time with it though, because alternative medicine is kind of frowned upon by medical doctors. I would think that if homeopathic methods are not working that you should go the next route.
As for the other posters who have taken a poke at the homeopathic approach. Just remember, it is the "theory" of medicine and there are very few 100% certainties even in western medicine. Why, because as we all know that the year a medical text book or manual is printed, it becomes outdated because new information becomes available every day. What was practiced 10 years ago in certain areas of medicine would be laughed at by today's doctors.
In the end, I would say, schedule an appt w/ a doc. Take a day off of work and get your son in to see a GP who may refer you out to a specialist. Considering no one on this thread has performed a physical exam of your son, it would be premature to suggest a particular doc. Thus, your family practitioner would be the first step and then go from there.
Good luck to you.

I would not get back at them in a physical way just because now the complaint is on file and if something does happen the cops will be calling on your door because of your "past" history with these people. Why give them the satisfaction of being the victims. I agree w/ sending a letter w/ a copy of the police report to not only their PO but find out who the CO is as well and let them know.
What I find is interesting is they clearly felt justified in their defacing your property. They would probably say that even though your stuff was not christmasy, it still gives the wrong impression to others around. But what about their conduct, how in the world could they justify that their conduct does not some how give the wrong impression.
As for the religious intolerance, I don't know that many people use "frosty" in their form of celebration and/or worship of the christ/season, but if you can convince the cops it is religious intolerance, I say go for it.
You should make it look like you have installed cameras in the front of your house, so they are too frightened to do anything again. Clearly they are chicken-sh*ts and if they think someone is watching they are not going to do a thing.

But you know there were those at the ass ..embly that did start crying. I am surprised they talked about it because I think that they did not want people to have kids "in this system" because the end is close at hand, so people adopting have got to really be disobeying the WTBTS.

Yes, TBL, we had Chin. He was a ball buster if there ever was one. He would strain the gnat about the use of "contribution" instead of "donation". He one time asked a sister if she exercised and when she said "yes", he said she should try harder because it was not working for her. I remember his wife was always dressed to the nines but she came from money, that I remember her mother was the chick that paints the kids with the big eyes. Also, if I remember correctly he came from a family that owned businesses, so he never had a real 9 to 5 job. He was constantly telling people who were late because they were rushing to get their kids ready for the mtgs or late from coming from work that they were bad jws because they were not putting the important things first. Needless to say, I was not his fav and he was not mine.
Sorry, the above was off subject, but I wanted to respond. But there is a reference in there about Chin's wife dressing real well, that counts right?
