Actually e-harmony was the one site I tried. I did not like the experience. I later found out the that guy who formed it is uber religious and is anti-gay. Of the GFs that I mentioned, they found their mates on Match.

So......online dating sites; yay or nay?
by tim hooper inok, all you lovely people,.
so it's been a year now since mrs h and i went our seperate ways, and even though there are people on the boards that i've come to love very much i've started having a tic in one eye whenever i see a presentable lady in real life.
i guess that means that i maybe ready to start looking for some female companionship.. thing is, it''s been over 20 years since i last went on 'the pull', and i'm a bit rusty these days.

Wait I am totally confused. I have not heard a peep about the little girl's parents (mom) being a dub. Didn't the parents also meet up with the Pope? If so, isn't that a huge no no in the religion?

WHAT "WERE" YOU IN HIGH SCHOOL? AND DID YOU GO ON TO HIGHER EDUCATION?
by juni injust a fluffy question ~~~.
were you a freak?
jock?

You're beautiful Juni.
I was home schooled for high school. But not in your typical JW way and not for your typical JW reason. I actually did have a certified teacher that I went to 3 times a week. But I was always a motivated student, so I really only needed help with my worst subject MATH. I still suck at it today. I like to say I was NUMBER ONE IN MY CLASS! A little joke on my part. I did go on to higher education. And even higher education.
I guess the only thing I could say as to what I was in school would have to go back to my grade and jr. high school daze. I was the kid that crossed borders and had friends from all groups. I was the holder of secrets ... and I think that is why I started into higher education because I was going to be a psychologist and then changed my mind. Even though I was a good JW, I was never a freak and had great friends that I still have to this day.
p.s. and clearly by this posting, spelling was a sore subject as well, which I still seem to suck at ...

Non organised ex JWs, why?
by greendawn infrom time to time we hear that the ex jws should have organised themselves to a high level and that doesn't necessarily mean setting up another religion in opposition to the wts but some sort of rather secular organisation to carry out that task.
no doubt this lack of organisation plays in the hands of the wts who escape the nightmare of a highly organised efficient opposition.
the rough treatment of ex members in my opinion is intentional and aims at emotionally stunning them to pre empt the possibility of them having a clear mind with which to fight their fraudulent, cultic objectives.

I can think of a couple of things that might work contrary to your idea.
1 - many ex jws are living hand to mouth because the religion in its own way forbid education. Although 200 bucks may not be alot to some, to others it means putting food on the table.
2 - of those 1 mil ex jws, how many walked away, never wanting to think of the religion again. That being the case, they would certainly never contribute in any fashion to an ex-jw movement.

Sextuplet parents lose appeal
by Gayle in(on globeandmail.com - google).
sextuplet parents lose appealstaff.
june 2, 2007. vancouver -- - the parents of sextuplets born in vancouver in january have lost an application for leave to appeal a decision that blocks them from cross-examining doctors on why blood transfusions were given to four of the surviving babies.. the parents, who are devout jehovah's witnesses, turned to the b.c.

Looks like someone's brother is also upset that adult JWs refuse blood and is wanting to take it to the courts as well.

Paisley Ties Are Satanic, Sandals Are Immodest. What is Worldly????
by mtsgrad in20 years ago (in my teens!
) there was a well established rumour that the paisley pattern had demonic origins.
no brothers in my hall wore ties with that pattern, until a watchtower had a brother wearing a tie with this pattern.. a co said that sisters feet should not seen at the meetings for the sake of decency.

The no tampon thing was ridiculous! I spent a week on a house boat and it was horrible, because I could either announce to everyone that I had my period by never being in a bathing suit (a very modest one of course, it essentially was a dress ... but that is another subject .... Blondie to add to your list, no bikinis!) while being on the water for a week. So I decided to go against the unwritten rules of no tampon if you are a virgin.
I was outed by some dumb@$$ elder who felt it necessary to question me about a certain something that was none of his business. Now imagine, a young girl 15/16 years old being questioned about private matters from some old creepy guy. I was mortified. Later I was told by the same loser elder that the reason it was a no-no was because it would give a girl the feeling of what it is like to have SEX. Really!!!!!

I can't help but wonder if it really would matter if Mr. Franz went back to the meetings. Would that somehow invalidate the 100+ years of Watchtower hypocrisy? Would it make anything that he wrote less true? I don't think so.
You know, I was thinking the same thing. Even if he did decide to go back, would it really change ANYTHING. I am sure that anyone who has left the religion and published a book about the WTBTS' forked tongued prophesies would say the same thing, the message is what you need to believe, the man is just that a man, so he may stumble along the way (you can define "stumble" in any way you wish) but he is still just a man.

Is there a big "push" going on right now?
by robhic ina couple of jws just left my door.
they started out by trying to give me an invitation to an upcoming convention.. i politely declined and said it was difficult and that i didn't get out much, anyway.
we didn't spend much time talking but i almost felt sorry for the poor man (it was a husband & wife) because he really, really wanted to give away some literature!

I wondered that as well because normally we just have one crazy doing street work at the corner of State and Lake in Chicago. But this past week, there have been several others doing "street work" as well. Standing on the corner of Clark and Wacker and some even walking down Kinzie and LaSalle. Other then Bro. Streetwork, I never see this many JWs trying to peddle their wares and I have been in the city for over 10 years now.

I have a couple of GFs who have met men that they have ultimately married. I have only tried it once and was not greatly impressed. I like the old fashion way. It appears to me that you have to be willing to go on a lot of dates to finally find that one person that is a good fit. But for my GFs, I really like their husbands and they are really great women, so I do think it is possible to meet someone thru on-line dating sites.
