I got the 'prodigal son' treatment from my parents last night
by mavie inyep, i opened a letter and received a highlighted 5 page print out from the watchtower library cd.
i find it somewhat insulting they think i'm lost and wasting my life.

Thanks...I'm preparing a letter. I'm not going to play the yo-yo game. We love you, we hate you, we love you, etc. They still think I might come back, so I'll let them know once again I have no intention of ever doing that.

Yep, I opened a letter and received a highlighted 5 page print out from the Watchtower Library CD. Has anyone else been through this? I find it somewhat insulting they think I'm lost and wasting my life.

Today Is My Point of No Return - Or Is It?
by TheMan inalmost every night, i would get a phone call from my book study overseer, asking how i was, where i was.
whereas witnesses, when they experience hard times, stop going to meetings?
of course, my wife and i want to leave the witnesses, and i don't want to offend anyone in the process.

I went through a similar experience about a year ago. It's all in my post history.
I began to miss meetings and received phone call after phone call along with numerous elder visits, even though I had some serious family issues to deal with. I was missing due to family reasons, not because I wanted to leave. Well, things came to a head and I decided I'd had enough, it was emotionally and physically exhausting.
My family and former friends now shun me, yet I've moved on to a better life. It's a spectacular feeling once you leave!
As far as your guilt regarding gifts. I understand why you might feel guilty, being raised in an organaztion which constantly makes you feel like you aren't doing enough. You need to do what is right for you, but remember, if you leave all those people who gave you gifts will not speak to you, ever. It doesn't matter how you try to leave, it will only matter that you left to them. There is no honorable way to leave the org. You should not feel guilty for leaving, you have done nothing wrong.
PM me if you have questions about my story, it took me about 3 months to get over it and break free.

You are doing great TBL. It's a huge paradigm shift you are experiencing. You are on step 10 of the shift while your parents are on step 1. They will not understand where you are coming from for a while, if at all.
As far as the 'Where else will you go?' or 'we teach undeniable bible truths!' statements....these both assume the Bible is an inspired book from God. If it is not inspired, these statements are meaningless; there is no 'undeniable truth'.
My faith in the Bible was shattered as I finally examined it in detail with an open heart. Take for example, the WT's account of pre-flood Earth. They teach the Earth was protected by a water canopy which kept the entire Earth temperate and warm. Then the flood came and covered the entire earth, all the mountains, for one year. This supposedly happened 4000 years ago.
Contrast this story with the fact that scientists have extracted ice cores from Antarctica that can be measured to be 650,000 years old. How could the polar ice cap be that old? Could it have survived the flood? No, rather the flood story is a myth. There may be a real flood that happened in ancient times, a local flood, from which the story in the Bible and similar stories in other cultures are derived.

Is the bible really the good book ( broad scope analysis of Its content )
by Handsome Dan ini came across this web site awhile back and i thought it had some thought provoking information.
it is obviously written by a group of atheists.
who wanted to bring to light what all christian faiths base their religious beliefs on and probablly why some devout christians eventually turn to atheism.. if you read their analysis of what the bible says with an open mind it can be very thought provoking material.. after reading most of the sub topics they have listed, i found most of the reading to be both mind expanding and humorous for a lot of it, your mileage may vary.

What will Jehovah's Witnesses do when they realize they've been lied to
by cultswatter ini think there might be a mass revolt.
imagine a mob of 100,000 angry dubs in newyork smashing down wt 25 using telephone posts as battering rams.
then the looting and the destruction of every wt property in newyork and elsewhere.

Hello Cultswater,
What will you do when Armageddon would comes and you find out you have been fighting against Jehovah?
Please prove this using only the Bible.
Wait, first prove to me the Bible is more than a book of fairy tales. For example, how could the global flood have happened only circa 4000 years ago when there are ice-core samples taken in Antartica which are dated 650,000 years old. Wasn't the Earth temperate and warm before the flood? Oops, I guess the ice caps couldn't have existed before the flood.
