  Properties Department, Bethel

  i called the properties department today to inquire about the jay st property and the zoning change that took place recently.

  apparently, according to the sister on the phone, the gb gave the go ahead to seek the re-zoning to special mixed use district (mx-2), so that they could expand if needed.. when i asked, "hey i thought brooklyn was getting smaller?

  " she laughed and said that they could sell it now for "a lot more" than under the old zoning.

  I will try and watch it, as am still fascinated by Revelation. I know a lot on here don`t believe in the bible anymore, but i am still trying to keep an open mind, and one thing i have always wondered about is Revelation. Some people say that the bible is a storybook, but Revelation is a bit too complex to be a `story` so would like to hear others comments on this?

  Physical attributes in men and women

  they say that in women (physical) looks are the most important factor for attracting a mate whereas for men it is other things eg personality, wealth, status, as if there are a lot more aspects to male existence.

  .

  so how would you choose (or did) choose a mate, eg was a woman's physical side of paramount importance or did you also weigh that seriously against character personality, culture, etc.

  I think attraction is a powerful thing, which means that you don`t have to be the best looking person in the world, but just have something about you that the other person likes. Also, if you have a laugh or good fun with someone, that is attractive in a person. I think after the initial attraction the relationship can be built by personality. For me, the perfect partner would be an exjw as they understand where we are coming from, and we have so much to talk about.

  Your doctor sounds incompetent. I would take her straight to ER as they will find out the problem, and you won`t have to wait for a dozy doctor to get his act together, she is too young to be left for this long already, esp with her heart history. I hope she is ok, please let us know how you get on, i hate to hear of kids being ill.

  things that used to bother me within the organization.. for example, the time that the organization use to.

  absorb, it seemed that i gave more than i received.

  It amazes me how the same problems are worldwide, like gossiping,etc. but what used to annoy me was how competative the sisters were with appearance. They used to try and outdo each other with the latest clothes, (esp the elders wives!) it was quite funny to watch them, and some of the men were as bad with cars etc. I can remember one family who had personal numberplates, and were so up there own ass it was untrue. Then you get the `spiritual snobs` who claim lineage back to russell or rutherford, (nothing to be proud of i don`t think!) and uncle so an so is a c.o, and mum and dad were special pioneers in the Outer Hebrides, whilst their brother is at Bethel, bla bla bla.

  my friend marion just called me, and her sister angela, who is a nominal jw, and attends occasional meetings, went last sunday because her friends' son was giving the public talk.

  as i said in another thread, most of them started partaking the emblems after 1935. that's a clear sign that there's a corrosion of the "remnant" doctrine, because now most of the governing body are considered "replacements" of 'anointed ones who have fallen away'.

  Suspicious JW activity? Anyone else had a visit lately?

  last sunday, two elders came to our place, we peeked and didn't answer.

  it's their first visit since their last and only visit 2 years ago.. my dad called yesterday to say hi, i told him i was confused by his call since, i reminded him, he and my mom and my sisters and brother disowned me.

  he even said they want to come for a visit, and they miss me (out of state), i told him that seems off.

  One of the reasons they are making an effort to visit ex`s could be that their numbers are going down, and they can`t find new recruits, so are trying to round up some of us up, that shows how desperate they must be!
