Over here (Australia) placing Bibles is banned. You bring your own if you are going into hospital.
Last motel I stayed in, I looked in the bedside table - no Bible.

in the early 1960s, a jehovah's witness named max hatton was living and working in albany, a town on the southern coast of western australia.
when he was challenged by sda geoff rogerson, who lived in the nearby township of denmark, about the watchtower society's neo-babylonian chronology, max investigated geoff's claims.. after four years of intensive research, max resigned his position as a "servant in the organisation".. max documented the result of his research, and his 77-page study is remarkable and deserves to be widely known.
it is quite likely that the copies max and i have are two of very few copies that now exist.
Am downloading it now. Thanks so much for this bit of history.

it sounded very funny when my little sister asked my mother during their weekly bible study (some 25 years ago) what would happened if satan repented?
my mom thought she was being a smart-ass and punished her for asking such thing.
but now that i think about it, can any of these fallen angels repent?
Thanks Cabasilas for the link - interesting read.
Atlantis, thank you for your information too.

many witnesses "lived in sexual sin" during the rutherford era.
this was frowned apoun, but you were not disfellowshiped..except if you critisized rutherford!
then the watchtower under franz of may 15 1944 and finally 1/3 1952 clarified disfellowshiping for sexual immorality.
Re they "lived in sexual sin" during Rutherford's era.
Wonder how they, GB, are going to handle the current Australian law whereby couples can merely register their relationship. No ceremony, just a signing of names etc. The result being a legal relationship with all entitlements to property etc.
My guess is that most Jw's will still opt for the traditional wedding but the odd one or two may take the current option.

i am just wondering since the elders don't even bury the df'd..... do they stay df'd even after death?.
is there really a reason for jw's to continue shunning this poor souls?.
african gb member.
When I studied back in late 1960's, I learned that the blood of Jesus would continue to 'cover future sins in the New System' until he hands the Kingdom back to his father. Then we stand on our own.

yes what a great country we live in!
the government pays us $4,000 for having a baby {we need to fill this part of the earth} and due to the economic crisis we get $900 dollars from the goverment....of course some people tried using the baby money to buy a plasma tv so now the draw out the payments rather then a tempting lump sum..
Spend it wisely as it may be the last 'thrill' before the situation becomes even worse re financial crisis.
Unemployment figures continuing to rise.

quote from rutherford book enemies:.
"satan is a spirit creature, therefore invisible to human eyes; and also angels are spirit creatures and invisible to human eyes" (p.34).
in bible scriptures, "angels" have made appearances to humans.
Hi cameo-d,
It (WT) says the angels materialized or 'put on' a body like our own.
In that way, conversations can be had, meals eaten, struggles/fights take place.

the movie about a baby born old and growing younger each year sounds silly, but the film pulls it off very well.
brad pitt was good and i enjoyed the film.
cate blanchet is brilliant, a very enjoyable thought provoking film.....did anyone else see it?.
A thought provoking movie. No matter which way we go at it - life - we still end up dying.
Well acted by all.

me and my jw wifey were talking this morning.
the conversation was about her aunt that's dying of cancer.
we were discussing the issue of death and i mentioned that there is nothing we can do about it and that we will all have to go thru it at one time or another and she agreed and even spoke further about it.. i am thinking wtf, "what about everlasting life", since this is what they preach and are taught.
Yeah, they 'wait' their lives away.
Waiting to have children in the new system - if one is married and makes it throught (together) the GT that is.
Life is for living now to the fullest and best way a person can. God surely could not object to that.

was it good?
i'm planning to go see it tomorrow.
haven't been to the movies for ages....
Yes, saw it a few weeks ago and enjoyed it very much. Nicole and Hugh perfect for their parts played.
Interesting how Australia (Darwin) was bombed by the Japanese after Pearl Harbour.
