  here's a set of youtube videos where propoganda techniques asks a ministerial servant and an elder about various jw related things and catches them lying about the book pay attention to yourselves and the flock.

  i came on jwd a year ago tomorrow, having realized that jws were not the truth, quite painfully, on march 29, 2008. i was here within a week, and within 2 months i was officially dad by my congregation.. ever since joining, i have never actually wrote down a comprehensive look at why i left the organization.

  what doubts caused me to leave?

  why did a gilead grad leave what i once considered so precious?.

  Every time I hear someone describe what the elders do in the JC meeting about asking for the details of the persons sexual behavior it make me even more disgusted with this Org.

  What are you going to give up on Lent?

  well i was listening to the news this morning and they were talking about lent starting ash wednesday the 25th , i believe.

  they talked about how on lent you are suppose to give up something you like or crave.. .

  wikipedia says there are traditionally forty days in lent which are marked by fasting, both from foods and festivities, and by other acts of penance.

  Well I was listening to the news this morning and they were talking about Lent starting Ash Wednesday the 25 th , I believe. They talked about how on Lent you are suppose to give up something you like or crave.

  Wikipedia say’s “ There are traditionally forty days in Lent which are marked by fasting, both from foods and festivities, and by other acts of penance. The three traditional practices to be taken up with renewed vigour during Lent are prayer (justice towards God), fasting (justice towards self), andalmsgiving (justice towards neighbour). Today, some people give up a vice of theirs, add something that will bring them closer to God, and often give the time or money spent doing that to charitable purposes or organizations ”.

  Well, I don’t know about all of you but being I gave 25 + of my years to the Watchtower, I figured I gave enough for a life time.

  So what about you?

  Are you still giving up something?

  Have you left the “truth” and started giving up something new that’s a sacrifice to you?

  The Idea of Religious "Truth" and its Spiritual Merits

  Do you really think that god puts institutions over you? I can't bring myself to believe that. Do you think that the truthiness of organized religion (which at its core is all about them, not you) is more important then your personal truth? Would god agree that a religious institution is more important then its people?

  I think the point you made (quoted) above is the key to freeing yourself from the artificial security of "truth"of an oganization.
