I felt the same way as you a few months ago, but I decided I could not continue to live a lie, so I left. So far, my wife is still by my side, even though still a card carrying jw. However, whatever happens, I will never live my life for anyone else ever again.

Why would you want to wake up before the 90s?

if you were a jw in the late 70s into the late 80s you might have been one of those brothers or sisters that just happened to be in the right kingdom hall and with the right people.

during that time being a jw wasnt too bad if you were able to establish the right connections.

a person could pioneer for a while and be appointed as a ministerial servant in a year or two and within 5 years you could be an elder in your twentys.

CAH closing down in upstate NY

yet another circuit assembly hall is going to be sold off!.

they've been reducing the amount of congregations assigned to meet there and using the times when it isn't in use to make repairs.

elders have now been informed that they are selling off the property and buildings and that circuits would be assigned to attend other sites, twice as far, three or four hours away, like montreal.

Kingdom Hall loans Cancelled? Lurkers...please read

i hope that writing this, there will be some lurkers that i can shake.. if you have not listened to mays tv broadcast, please do.

it may wake some up.. note @ around 21-22 minutes into the broadcast lett brings up the the kingdom halls/assembly hall loans have been cancelled and the congregation can now send in what they can afford.

wow...how many banks would do that?.

This is going to backfire on them. As individuals, I predict that the rank and file will hear this comment about paying only what you can afford, and they will lessen their donation amounts. This will add up noticeably when the whole congregation, or at least many of them, slack off. They'll get a stern local needs of course, but it might take a few months before the body realizes it, unless the accounts servant is on top of it, which is unlikely if it's the average overloaded MS.

Probably the broadcast after next they'll have to re-address the issue and soft-scold everyone for lessening their donations.

hey guys n gals, sorry its been such a long time since i've posted.

lately i've been very busy balancing between my school work and cult activities.

since i've been doing pretty well "spiritually"(enough field-circus hours, attending meetings, underlining my literatrash, reading, praying and serving as the mic-master) my coordinator grabbed me to the side after a meeting and talked to me for twenty minutes straight congratulating me about how good i am doing.. then he paused for a good five seconds and got all serious.. then he proceeded to tell me that the young ones in the hall aren't doing too well.

Even though the youth in your congregation seem to be into some bad things, it's still encouraging to be reminded that the org is losing them. So many congregations that I observed as a visiting speaker are almost entirely populated by golden oldies. Soon these die-hards will all be gone, and who will be left?

He gave this exact talk, in the exact same way in Denton, TX, complete with the reminder not to Google. It apparently was no mistake. I think they actually want you to google, because when you read the Wikipedia article for example, you could get the impression that these splinter groups have all failed. So for many, it might just reaffirm their faith. For those capable of abstract thought, it will push them further out. They're fine with either outcome. They are trying to draw in the gullible and weed out the infidels.

Setback

i saw this coming since my mother-in-law's funeral .... the congregation's "love-bombing" over my wife had its impact.

i watched her drawing closer and closer to her friends in the congregation.

then she decided she would attend the memorial.

I'm new to the board, but I have been a lurker. I created an account to say that you should fight for her.

I would recommend love bombing her yourself, so to speak. Be the social outlet she's looking for. Take her dancing. Establish a weekly date night. Be extremely awesome, and prove to her that you (and she by extension) can be a non-jw and still be a great person.

Find meetup groups and take her to do things with other normal people, that prove other people are normal and kind.

If you tell her you love her 10 times a day, double it. Leave her love notes. Turn off the tv and play cards, play a board game. Act like you're wooing her all over again.

Prove her wrong about you a thousand times over.
