Will UK Support US In Action Over Iraq?
by Englishman inthese are the results of a poll taken on friday, september 13, 2002, by yougov:.
do you support or oppose a un deadline to let arms inspectors back into iraq?.
don't know: 1%.. oppose: 4%.. support 95%.. if inspectors are not allowed back in, would you support or oppose un-backed military action?.

I think a lot of people who do not support war in any way shape or form, are the same type people from the 60's, who would rather have peace marches, and sit and do nothing. It would be one thing if there was nothing but peaceful people out there, then we could all do whatever the hell we wanted, and no one would care.
The fact is that Saddam, with one of the worlds largest armies, when he is able, will absolutely kill without remorse, would not hesitate to literally blow up anyone and everyone in his quest. Are we forgetting that he killed his son in law? Have we seen what he has done to his own people? Do we really think for a second that if he had the chance to nuke us, that he wouldn't? He doesn't care, he does not value life.
Don't think for a second that the leaders in Washington have not thoroughly thought this out. They do not attack "just because."
This is a situation that we cannot just sit back and hope that nothing bad happens.
Thank God we have people in office with guts, that are willing to do what must be done, regardless of if they have everyones approval. There are reasons they are in office. They have taken the chance to go do what most people won't, to go out there and make a difference.
It is people like that who will have to thank when our grand children actually have a place to call home. Someone who stood up for what is right.

SO WHAT IF YOU GO TO HELL???
by minimus inif all we have to worry about is nonexistence, then why worry about anything?
the worst that can happen is you peacefully sleep, forever.

A lot of thoughts now go through my brain, realizing that the Watchtower did not hold the answers. As far as I can tell, if one were to believe in the bible, which I do, there is a heavenly promise for believers of Christ.
So what does that mean for hell? For me, it is hard to believe that God, a God of love, would torture non-believers forever in a burning hell. I would imagine a state of non-existance would be more accurate. To me, if there was a burning hell, who would run it? We all are taught by others that Satan runs hell. Well, what happens when Satan does not exist? Who would run it then? And if there was a hell, wouldn't that mean that God and Satan are working together? What does God say? Ok Satan, here are the bad ones? I would like to think that hell is more of a state of just non-existance.

ANYONE JOINED A NEW RELIGION?
by Mary infor those who have left the organization, have any of you gone to another church?
or did being a jw simply turn you off religion altogether.
i feel i would like to still belong to a religious group (that's just in my personality) but of course, i would feel really guilty at first going in to "babylon the great".

I have gone to several non-denonimational churches, and I think if I were ever to go back to a somewhat regular basis, that is what I would do. Much more relaxed, and accept people as they are. No stuffy suits, no one trying to up another, and here is a change: people actually look like they are enjoying going! No one makes anyone do anything, therefore, everyone there is there because they want to be. How refreshing!!

Do JW's teach anything about their history?
by Double Edge ineveryone here seems to know a lot about jw history, but when i ask my friend (who was a convert) they don't seem to know too much.
do they teach a church history class on sundays or during the week?
(just curious...seems funny that my friend would convert from catholicism without knowing too much of the history)

I always wondered growing up, is what happened to all the people that were not witnesses between when the bible ended and the Watchtower started. Were they all damnd forever because they didn't go to 5 meetings a week and do personal study, and go out in service 1 or 2 times a week?

From JW sheep to U.S. sheep
by kelsey007 inright after 9-11 bush could write all the blank checks he wanted.
as time took us away from the events of 9-11 the majority of americans came back to their senses and begain taking the checkbook away from him.
now the annaversary date arrives, 9-11 is remembered and the checkbook is handed back over to bush.. .

I have friends that know the Bush family, and they are not as bad as the rap they get. We may all have different opinions regarding politics, but when it is all said and done, they are people just like us, trying to make a positive difference.

Demons, hallucinations, hypnotism, and our brains.
by seven006 ini haven't posted much lately because of time restraints but i still do read the board as often as i can.
in the past few days the subject of demons and personal sanity has come up in a few threads.
i would like to add a few thoughts on the subject based on some personal research in the areas of psychology, hypnotism, hallucination, and a basic study of the human brain.. everything a person has seen, heard, touched, smelled or tasted in their life time has been processed and stored in their brain.

UFO'S are certainly an interesting idea Dave. Maybe a good post down the road.
I hesitate saying anything, for fear of being a "wacko." As my years as a witness, we were told we had all the answers. Come to find out of course, they didn't have any. So what does one believe now. The only benefit I saw from my experience seeing what I saw, was knowing, wow, I don't have all the answers, there is more to life than just what we see, and how exciting it will be one day to have the answers.
For those who doubt ghosts, or UFO's, etc, it is hard to imagine that the ones who say they saw it are "all there", however I am sure that there are things out there we just cannot explain.
I guess we will all find out one day!

Don't let it affect your credit, with or without son. It will affect you for years. It will certainly affect your ability to get another car, interest will go up, let alone getting financing for anything in the near ( several years) future.

I love that everyone is able to post thoughts, experiences, and opinions on this site. Very informative information above.
From my personal experience, I do believe in ghosts. My whole family saw it, many times. We know that it was not from imagination, or anything else, for we all saw it, and described it perfectly, and seperate from each other. In fact, we had not spoken about it while we lived there, nor with each other, not until many years later.
Scary, don't know what to make of it, but I know it existed. We were taught that if those things existed, they were certainly demons. I do not believe this was a demon, nor did it ever hurt us. Sure scared the crap out of me though, and now as an adult, of course I would move in an instant if that happened again.
