at last week's dangling a baby episode in germany, witnesses gasped at the thought of jacko possibly dropping his child (prince michael ii).
I think there is a big diffence between true fans, like those in the audience, and the tabloid reporters out to make a buck by taking pictures.
Michael was giving the fans what they had wanted, and that was to see his son. He did it on his terms, from a distance. He was simply letting them see his son, though may not have been the best way to do it. Having those reporters chasing down celebritites is a whole other matter.
Just ask Princess Diana.
while i have nothing against the ones that i knew of that were annoited, i found their family examples a little troubling.
i'm sure die hard jw's will respond that this is because satan is tormenting them, much as he did to job.
:( while that might be true, i also found that most ran their families like nazi's, and much of their problems were their own fault!!
I don't think the example you gave is the typical one for "one of the annointed."
In the hall I attended while growing up, this person as you mention, would never had been believed to be one of the annointed. Everyone would have considered him to be more "spiritually weak" than anything else.
as the holidays approach, i find myself in a festive spirit, though a bit fiesty as well.. i couldn't help but think that some of the local halls could use a little decorating for the holidays.

There are always trees, or bushes. Perhaps a couple of ornaments hanging from them?

Another example of a absolutely stupid rule that the WTS has made up, and the witnesses follow it without even questioning it. For cryin out loud, IT'S JUST A BEARD!!

Of course to me, a special one day assembly might as well have been a week long in itself.
lets review this year.
un debacle, silent lambs roared, panorama, cnn, dateline, march on brooklyn - all unheard of 12 months ago.. where has it got us, wtbs is still there - un moved and unphased.. have we done any damage - or did we get it wrong?.
i'm no lover of the society - but will anything move these guys?.
Everything helps. The problem I think is that the witness rank and file are largely unaware of what is happening. Not like the WTS is going to talk about it.
So, in my opinion, the internet is the way to go. When a witness feels curious enough, they will look here, and they can do it without anyone knowing.
Some will get angry and tell the WTS to f off, and others it will trouble them, and they will start to lose their faith in the WTS.
Either way, I hope they see the real light.
The internet has just begun. Imagine 10 years from now, it will be a whole new ball game.
i have taken a break from the baby wait to come to the board and see what is happening.
recently i had a run in with some people from another board, that also attend this board.
in a search of my name on this site, i see that people (two weeks later) are still mentioning this and me.

I was glad to see a posting by you, explaining some of the crap that had been going on. Personally, I don't care what happened, that was between you and others, and I feel that everyone has the right to their own opinions.
I admire those that can stand up for what they believe in, even if it goes against the grain a bit.
I have enjoyed your postings in the past. I too, am a black belt in the martial arts, and so I have a certain amount of respect towards you in that regard too, and what you have been able to accompish and learn through your journey in the arts.

how many meetings a week, do you think we should have had in order to be reasonable and not overdone?
maybe 30 or 40 years ago, when woman didnt work, or when life was a little easier, that all these meetings every 2 days was ok, but today with life being so stressful, and with all the time it takes commuting, is it normal to still have so many meetings.
nothing changed in the last 50 years as far as meetings go.
It is not normal to have so many meetings. Even other churches may have an OPTIONAL weekday bible study in someones home, but it is not a requirement. Think about it, between meetings, field service, and personal and family study time, there is no time for anything.
there are actually some questions at the bottom of this lengthy thesis, however i thought a bit (ha ha) of background might be necessary first:-) .
some 12months ago after the switch flicked over in my head, i began the challenge of facing my fears head on, which led to breaking through the first mental barriers of the damage done by 22 years (from birth) of indoctrination.. the fear of loosing all i had was insignificant in comparison to denying myself any further what it really meant to be true to myself.
for the first time, i could honestly attribute that all my mental strength and decisions were of my own accord.
I agree with a posting earlier, that it is a must that you find new friends, ones that are supportive of you, regardless of religion, beliefs, etc.
