Their version of excommunicating is FAR different and less harsh than the witnesses. There is no comparison.

I miss nothing about the WTS.
I like having true friends, I like believing that God is not going to destroy everyone, I like sleeping in if I wish, I like not going door to door, I like not having to attend 5 meetings a week, I like not having to study the same thing over and over.

So How Bad Is The World REALLY?
by Englishman inin the uk, if you drop a wallet in the road in error, what are the chances of it being handed in to a police station by the finder with all the contents still intact?.
when i read that in the times some weeks ago, i was very skeptical.
then i thought of all the people that i know, friends, aquaintances and pub pals, and i reckon that 90% of them are basically honest with their fellow man.

I believe that anyone can take any statistic they want and twist into their way of thinking, and I believe the WTS does it all the time.
Are there more crimes now than ever? Probably, if you take the number by itself. But, if you consider the fact that there are more people on the planet than ever, then that number probably is not that much different than ever before.
They have done that with crime, earthquakes, etc.
The other consideration is that information is passed a lot quicker now. We don't have to sail over oceans to get word to the other side of the world.
By and far, this planet is a great place to live.

I agree with some of the previous postings, that Randy at freeminds might want some of it. The rest, would make good firewood.

If there really was life elsewhere, would that not be completely facinating? Wow, what an even that would be. And then to hope of course that they were friendly.
Always cracked me up, with the WTS saying that there is no way that there is life anywhere but here. How do they know? Their answer...... cause the bible doesn't talk about it. Therefore, it don't exist.
I personally believe without a doubt that there are planets that are capable of sustaining life. I believe that there are planets that carry plant life, maybe even small animals. Intelligent life, like aliens, described in detail in movies and books? Hmmmm don't know. Maybe we will find out one day.

I have to remind myself that most of the teachings from the WTS are inaccurate, at best. What will exactly happen, and when? I don't know. According to Jesus, he didn't even know. So how are we as humans on earth supposed to know?
Whatever happens is going to happen, and there is not much we can do about it.
After thinking while growing up that the end was going to happen at any moment, it was a relief when I realized that the WTS is full of crap. Now, I enjoy the prospect of growing old, watching my children grow up, and one day even great grandchildren. Now that I have that in my head, I would hate to see something happen and take it all away.
The fact is that we must live for today, as well as tomorrow. How many people went without education, children, careers, because the "end" was right around the corner. The fact is, that when I was told that I would never hit high school, I am nearing my 20th year from graduating. How sad had I not pursued a family life, career, etc. I need to plan for today, and tomorrow, and live that way. Otherwise, this is going to be a sad time here on earth.

Today I received my first birthday present EVER
by cruzanheart inand it was really neat!
it felt a little strange, though.
technically, i guess this isn't my first birthday present because big tex left me a dozen roses on my car the first year we met, on the eve of my birthday (with a note that read "to my favorite middle-aged pioneer" - i married him anyway).
