I just wonder what the hell current witnesses think when they read crap like this. This has hurt so many people in so many ways thinking that the end was right around the corner. Thank God I didn't wait and starting living my life.

You will never grow old
by Elsewhere ini was looking at the quotes web site and came across a jewel: *** awake!
because all the evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years.
of the generation that observed the beginning of the 'last days' in 1914, jesus foretold: 'this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.

I am a business owner, and I have seen the same type situation that you are talking about. In my experience, someone like Rod will forever stay as an empoyee, and will never reach anything great. People like Tony, and perhaps yourself Mike will make it. Reason? When those go the extra mile when they don't have to, will do whatever it takes. And, from what you say, you and Tony have much better people skills.
If I were you Mike, I would start looking for more. It sounds like you might have what it takes.

Would You, Could You, Marry Your Wife Again?
by Englishman ina couple of years back, 2 friends of ours decided that they would like to have their marriage vows renewed in our local church.
the main reason behind this was that they had married abroad some years back, and they thought that a sort of "second wedding" would be a nice thing for the mums and dads who had missed out on the original.
it was fine, very enjoyable.. hmm, i got to thinking, her ladyship and i did not marry in church, but settled for a registry office bash because of parental jw pressure, and also, because i had been married before it was, back then, very difficult to obtain a church wedding if one had been divorced.

I have never heard that when people renew their vows it is because something happened to suggest the need to renew them. I always thought of it as a romantic time to share with many who may not have been there the first time, like with the children.
As for my wife, I would marry her again in a heartbeat.

I think you do find that many witnesses identify themselves first and foremost as exactly that: Witnesses.
Part of that might be that everything they do, and don't do, revolves around being a witness. Their day to day life routine is constantly a reminder of what they should or should not be doing.
I think people fall into a similar trap when they are wrapped up in their jobs. You ask someone what they do, and they automatically think of career, and tell you what they do for a living. They don't say "I am a dad" or "I am a husband" or even, "I like to play golf, tennis, sail" or whatever. What they DO is their job, to them. That is what identifies them. Sad, really.
Like I mentioned above, the witnesses are so wrapped up in the activity of "being a witness" instead of everyday life, that easily becomes who and what they are.
When I look back at my childhood memories, 95% without exaggerating, is memories of something to do with witness activity. Maybe it was playing with other witnesses at the hall before and after the meeting when I was really young. Going out in service, meetings, studies, witness gatherings. Getting ready for service or meetings. For God's sake, even after the Watchtower study, I would hang out with my parents and go shopping or whatever, and I would be stuck in meeting clothes until late afternoon or evening.
Being a witness, IS a lifestyle. It has to be..... they demand that of you. So when the faith is attacked or questioned, it is their LIFE that is being questioned, and that will get to the heart of anyone, and defense mechanisms will come into play, time after time.
It is human nature.

UN-field service game
by jws inafter finding an awake in a hospital waiting room, it got me to thinking of a game for ex-jws to play - possibly as an apostafest activity.. get an un-field-service carload together and go around to laundromats, waiting rooms, etc and try to find publications to remove: watchtowers, awakes, and even the occasional book.. maybe even replace them with an anti-jw info to prep the laundry washers next time the jws come around.
or surprise the jws about the rampant apostate activity in their area.. don't forget to take frequent coffee breaks.
in this game, it's ok to keep your time going no matter how long you stay.. might even be funny to send in an anonymous recap to your local congregation explaining what you did, how much time each of you put in and how many books and magazines you disposed of.. what do you do with the magazines afterwards?

Perhaps a media compaign should be started about the witnesses. Maybe the public really needs to know what kind of hurtful religion this actually is.

Saved from the clutches...
by jws inyesterday, i'm in the hospital waiting room while my wife is having a procedure done.
i sit down and on the end-table across from me is an awake magazine.
not knowing who left it, i didn't pop right up and scarf it up (to be disposed of).. as i'm waiting for the people in the area to clear, a guy a few seats down goes to pick it up.

I think it is our responsibilty to get rid of the mags when we seem them. Do we really want someone to pick it up and get interested? Would we want that on our concience? I think not.

Baptism Age
by JH indo you feel as if children in the watchtower organization get baptized too early in age?
when you think that in most places, you have to be at least 18 years old to vote, go in a bar, or have a drivers licence.
being told that it was the most important day of our life, wouldn't it be reasonable to wait to be at least 18 years old before getting baptized.
-
freedom96
In my opinion, if you grew up as a witness, no one under any cirmcumstances ought to be allowed to be baptized as a witness unless they are 21 or older.
Kids have absolutely no idea of the ramifications. Oh, I don't doubt that many love God, but to fully appreciate what will happen if you do not follow the WTS rules cannot happen in my opinion until much older.
Kids don't understand!!

What the WT took from me.. is it gone 4ever?
by LyinEyes ini was raised jw, so i have nothing to go back to as far as belief.
the wt has been exposed to me as nothing but a bunch of lies, coverups, failed predictions, interpreting the bible to fit their teachings etc.
now i stand here,,,,,,,,,,,, with no belief system at all.

I believe that there is a God, and his Son, and as long as we believe, and accept them, then we are on the right track. Following the rules of any religion is following rules made by man, not God. We know the frustrations that being a witness brought us, and then when we found that it was not the "truth."
I believe that God knows what happened, and that it takes time to heal. For those of us that do believe in Him, I think it is more of a disbelief in religion, than in God. We need to be more concerned about what God thinks, instead of man and their religions.
It will come with time.

How to Fly Under the Radar
by metatron init's taken me a while to overcome my intense bitterness - but i'm finally mending.. -- and that makes it easier to 'fly under the radar' when meeting witnesses!.
i bumped into a young witness mother at a mall.
i flattered her and told her about.

Sweet Revenge
by JH inhas it ever occured to you to think about doing something nasty towards the elders of your congregation after being disfellowshipped?
do you ever get ideas about getting even with them?
maybe your way of getting even is just by being here on this forum and letting everyone know about them.edited by - jh on 16 december 2002 18:19:0.

There is one elder in particular that I would like to have a little chat with.
