Growing up I was not allowed to use even darn, or shoot, or even crap.
I think witnesses swear in private a lot more than we thought.
witnesses must always have a clean and pure language to honor god, and must never cuss.
now imagine an elder accidentally hitting his finger with a hammer...
what words may he exclaim in this moment of pain?

for going to my kid's wedding.
he was told he was not "serious", had no "self-control" and "did not work well with the body".
As tough as it is for everyone involved, it is things like this situation that will make people stop and think. If you don't follow the organization exactly how they want you to, they will take everything away from you, including positions in the hall, family, and friends.
This is not a loving religion.
i bet this is all old hat to you regulars on the board, but occassionally when i look for something, i find more than i expect.
was mulling over the 1914 thing (607 etc) and discovered :-.
i thought this was a hoax, then clicked on the link to ''thy kingdom come'' - so now what to believe?
Many beliefs held by the WTS have orgins that they would rather not talk about, let alone anyone actually know about.
that comment has been made a number of times.
since jehovah loves those he disciplines, short of stoning one, this is god's way of saying, i love you"......stupid, huh?
I think convincing themselves that Jehovah uses df'ing as a way to show love eases the guilt they feel for doing what they do.
just got off the phone with the judicial committee, the same one that i blew off last sunday.
i wasn't even sure they'd call, but come to think of it, i think that's just what they're supposed to do if i don't show up.
they called as a conference call (none of them has been willing to talk to me on the phone alone!
It sucks that a religion can hold onto so much power. This df'ing, shunning, must go.
mr michael jacksons trial starts in a couple of weeks.
predict the outcome here and i'll check back after the trial is over to see who amongst us really has the gift of prophecy.... guilty/not guilty...?
you decide.
I really hope he is not guilty.
Strange, mentally ill to a degree, yes, certainly, and has gotten worse. I do believe that he was not able to handle the fame and pursuit of career so young in life. I think he became mentally ill, and if anything happened, it was a result of that. That is not to excuse his behavior if indeed he is guilty.
Guilty of bad judgement, yes. He consistantly puts himself in situtations that just don't look good.
But here is a major question that needs to be answered: If in fact he is guilty, he knows it. Why would he not take his kids, and leave the country to where they will not send him back. He could live a very luxurious lifestyle, and never spend a day in jail. I know the DA has his passport, but come on. With his money and connections, he could get out of the country.
His career here in the States is certainly over for the most part, and what is left will be destroyed by the trial, regardless of whether they find him guilty or not. I just don't understand why he is still here. Maybe he is so ill that he doesn't comprehend what is going on.
If found guilty, I do believe the sentence will be much different than if it was Joe Blow on the street. If true, he needs major medical help.
this is for those of you who sent me a private message saying you dont believe me, your letting your old jw traits come out, you know, not believing things when the facts stare you in the face unless it comes from the org.
maybee you should go back and re join them.. to confirm what happened .
i was at a john denver concert in the uk many years ago, he asked all catholics to stand up, after he got them seated he did the same with church of england, then the same with a couple of other religions, after he asked all jw's to stand up he announced that the concert would not go on untill they had all left and he then left the stage.
From what I recall from the airplane crash, Denver had no alcohol or drugs in his system, though his pilot license was suspended.
23 common or garden bethelite.
25 common or garden elder.
58 female child of unbaptized associate; dead unbaptized associate/family.
That is too funny!
.
as you get older, do you find yourself gravitating towards softer music, or do you find you like the harder stuff as much as ever?.
.
Even when I was younger, I could appreciate talent on both ends. I do enjoy some hard rock, and I enjoy soft music too.
Get this: I like Guns and Roses, but John Denver too.
I think that is pretty funny.
i remember this guy once, after the book study (the one where you go to someone's house to study a book) boasting on this house he wanted to buy!
it made me feel sick!
he was showing off so much!
People are people, and will act like everyone else. You have the nice sincere ones, and the jerks.
There certainly will be ones with more money, however, if you were to study the witnesses as a whole, I have no doubt that they would be among the poorest religions out there, if rated per family income.
