Jehovah's witnesses do not waste time and money by building
by garybuss in.
'jehovah's witnesses do not waste time and money by building large church edifices to invite people to such to hear them preach .

I have no doubt that many gung ho witnesses visit these WTS buildings, and are filled with pride, and the thoughts that that this really is God's organization. Many good looking places, no question about it.
But, we know the truth behind the nice looking buildings, and it makes it not so appealing after all.
There is a mind blowing amount of money spent on those properties, and all the money it takes to keep it running. A very rich publishing company for sure, don't let anyone say otherwise.

Wasn't the movie "Rock Star" loosely based on Judas Priest?

How many Bible studies does it take before brainwashing sets in?
by hubert ini would like to know how the study starts...... what kind of information is given to the potential new convert when he / she starts studying with j.w.
's., lesson to lesson.. what is taught in the first few "lessons".. when the brainwashing starts to be taught.

It depends on the emotional standing of the person studying. Why are they studying? What is going on in their life right now?
I know a guy who in his 20's decided to be a witness, bought into all of it immediately. Really didn't question a thing about it. He 30 years later started to think about what was going on, especially spending most of his time an elder. He now is out.
Another person I knew fought each and every subject the WTS teaches. Everything. She also eventually became a witness, though she is mostly inactive now. But she still thinks it is the truth.

Do you think a 7 and 9 year old kid should have a cell phone?
by Eyebrow2 inokay...so many of you know that i have two stepdaughters....great kids, 7 and 9. currently they are living with us.
now, when they, or one of them is with their mom, it is like pulling teeth to get her to answer the phone or call back when we leave a message to talk to the girls.
there was one period of time that my husband went almost 10 months without getting to talk to his oldest daughter when she was with her mom.

We certainly live in a different time and age.
Do I think young children need to be on the phone talking to their friends all the time? No.
For protection, and help knowing where your kids are, is a different matter, and an interesting thought.
I'll tell you this: I promise you that a parent who has had something bad happen to their child sure wish they had access to a cell phone. I would rather error on the side of being "silly" for allowing my kids to have one.
That being said, my children do not have one. Yet.

I have been involved with martial arts for 16 years, and I know what the body can handle, and give.
Not a pretty sight, and not something I would want to enter just for the idea. I learned martial arts for the self esteem, fitness, and overall protection of myself and my family. I have succeeded in doing that, but I have no interest to get in the ring for the fun of it, and fight til we are bloody.

Would you have quit the JW's for a Worldly Person you loved?
by JH inwhen you were a devout jw, and if you would have met a man/women that really pleased you, would you have quit the jw organization for that person, if he/she asked you to?
-
freedom96
I never considered myself a devout witness, so I would have left if I found the love of my life. I would have been open to reasons why the WTS is not God's organization.

I saw Motley Crue this weekend
by Dustin inso, i went to see motley crue at the same place where i used to go to the district convention this last weekend.
it's such a strange feeling walking into those places for the first time since i permanantly left the jw's behind.
the first song they played was "shout at the devil".

Tommy did remind us that he has experience with the camera, that is why he took over the "tittie cam" showing us the first few rows of females over the huge video screens.

I believe the current standing of the WTS is you can have much, if not all the different parts of the blood, but not all of it together, as in pure blood.
Kind of like being told you can have the bread, mayo, roast beef, tomato, all seperate, but you cannot put them together in a sandwhich form.
