Drinking in private is a hard thing to catch, so many witnesses regardless of rank in the hall can get away with it. I do believe the drinking is more prevelent than the WTS would like to think.

New Years Celebration
by JH in.
when you were an active witness, did you wait up to midnight before going to bed, just to see the celebrations of the new year?
since witnesses don't celebrate the new years, why would they stay up to see the midnight celebrations?edited by - jh on 24 december 2002 17:2:42.

I think there are a ton of jw's who watch the activities on tv. They probably don't go out, and possibly get caught. My dad was an elder my entire childhood, and every year he stood out on the porch and listened to all the fireworks and commotions common with the new year.

jw school teacher ax'ed
by johnny cip inok ; here's the best news i've heard against the wt in a while.
i'm listening to news radio today and here a grade school teacher in brooklyn , ms. addio a jw teacher would not let her students put up christmas or haunakh decorations in the class room .. now the teacher is in trouble with the board of ed.
is it not the jw's who always bullshit householders that they respect other people rights.. this sounds like a civil rights case$$$$$$$ i know it was in todays new york daily news.. maybe someone can find it and post it here.. it would be nice if someone would foward it to that lawyer kim norris... this sounds like a winner againgt the wt... john

I seriously doubt that the WTS lawyers will help this lady out at all. They don't care about the individual witnesses.
The WTS creates so many problems by having to be an outcast from society as a whole from everything they do.

The Next Teaching to Fall
by Blueblades inwhile many have had their hopes dashed concerning the change on this "generation " teaching, there is yet another teaching yet to fall very soon.it must and will fall because it connected to the generation doctrine that has already been changed.. the teaching that could shortly cause the governing body a serious problem and could bring about a major change for the vast majority of the rank and file is "the great tribulation".while this teaching has been put off to the " indefinite future"the gb.continues to have a serious problem with it.if the great tribulation fails to occur reasonably soon, the doctrine concerning the earthly hope for the vast majority of jw's.will have proven to have been false.the' great crowd' are those who will have come out of the great tribulation.according to the society those persons began to be identified as present as early as 1932.so the youngest members are now in their 70's or 80's.. again, the time-line is running out!
and has the potential of adversely affecting hundreds of thousands of other witnesses in the not to distant future,as time passes without the fulfilment of their hopes for a new heavens and a new earth.. also, some time ago, there was a watchtower study article, i don't remember which one it was .it spiritualized, armageddon!
psalm 91,especially verse 7.it said that a thousand will fall at your very side and ten thousand at your right hand, applies to those leaving the org.

I love thinking about such things. I would like to think that there is only so much that our friends and relatives can take of this garbage. When it happens to themselves, without us telling them about it, maybe they will be more receptive, and realize what is going on with the WTS.
That is one reason I am buying as much time with my friends as possible. One day they may see the light.

The truth about the first year of marriage
by meadow77 inthe guests have gone home.
you've opened all the gifts.
what surprised you the most about your first year of marriage?.
-
freedom96
It just all depends who you are married to. With my first marriage, I knew it was over within the first year. Finally divorced 6 years later.
I am almost into 2 years with my 2nd wife, and I could not be happier. I am gonna keep this one!

Wouldn't it just be a riot if one or several of the higher ups at WTS got caught stealing the money and putting in offshore accounts? That could be the best thing yet!!

Is Christmas Pagan or Christian?
by whyhideit inas the christmas holiday approaches, it brings out the comments from my witness family members to attempt to belittle our practice of enjoying the holiday.
when we first left the jehovah's witnesses and decided to celebrate christmas, we still considered ourselves to be christians.
so the argument of choice from our relatives was, "how can you call yourself christians and celebrate such a pagan holiday.
-
freedom96
My understanding is that the Christians took a day that the pagans celebrated and had their own holiday, not to join in because they felt they were being left out, but to say to the pagans, In your face. We will celebrate the birth of Christ that day.
