  i need some advice.

  Attending the "right" hall

  there always seemed to be such a big stink about making sure you went to the hall that you were assigned to.

  whatever territory that you lived in, that would be the hall assignment, whether you liked it or not.. if you chose not to go to your assigned hall, boy was there ever flack.

  you could get severely counciled for it.. just seems to be another stupid rule that they would get upset about.

  Pretty much anything that was a new style, or the new "in' thing, was chastised by the witnesses. I remember the glasses issue, and I was quite young at the time. People talked about how worldly it was. It simply was a new style, but the WTS made such a big deal.

  You were not going to see a manuel saying, No Blue Shirts, etc, but it was a unwritten rule that they had no problem talking about on stage.

  Bring the draft back? I fear for our sons..

  i am feeling a bit emotional today,,,,,, i was watching cnn today and there is a big debate going on , if they are going to do another draft like back in the vietnam war.

  this made me stand still in my tracks.

  After 9/11, I too was scared for my son, being that there was a lot of talk about a major war. Nothing happened even close to that degree.

  Even with the Gulf war, never did they enact the draft. I really don't think we have too much to worry about at this point.

  right now i am really mad and depressed.

  in my job as a cab driver, i have only working one day out of the last six!

  i have to get another job.

  I have mentioned before Gil about other jobs available in Vegas. If you are willing to start at an entry level, there are jobs everywhere. Apply!!

  One thing is certain, if you don't apply, you will not get the job!

  If you work at a casino, perhaps even being a valet, you will work, and all employees eat for free. Whether you are working that day or not. Right there you can save plenty of money.

  when you started to slow down in the congregation, what was the reaction of the brother/sister who studied with you up to your baptism?

  usually these people hate to see their hard work go down the drain.

  I was raised a witness, and by the time I had stopped going, my parents had stopped already themselves.

  It was funny watching those elders that would encourage me though, when I was not willing to accept their guidance, they looked personally hurt. I was thinking, why the hell do you care? They were not really friends. They were not their for me and my family.

  Well, you have nothing to lose. You are already df'd, and gone throught that whole ordeal. I say invite him over, and then drill him with all the WTS crap that we all now know.

  You can have fun, ask him to answer the questions you have for him, and at least give him food for thought.

  I always think that it could be fun, but at this point, I do have a lot to lose. Go for it and have some fun.

  I have heard about Billy Joel's family on another thread. You mentioned he has studied on and off. Any more details on that? I am a fan of his, and find it curious if he really had studied.

  with all the door to door work, actually finding someone to study with was difficult enough, and then to actually bring them to the point of baptizm, that seemed nearly impossible.

  Or, was it more likely a friend that you brought in? You knew them, they knew you, they checked it out, and then they got baptized. Did that ever happen?

  In my parents case, my mom got introduced to the WTS through a relative, and then met my dad at work. He wanted to date her, but couldn't unless he became one. So these were not door to door.

  But my main question is this: For those who you got in, do they still talk to you? Were you able to bring them back out? Are they angry?

  i thought that you might enjoy seeing some pics of our anniversary night out a couple of weeks ago.. this is her ladyship and i at the start of the evening, we're just starting our second bottle of wine, a sprightly sancerre, whilst we await the arrival of our main course in the flute de paris:.

  once we'd finished in the restaurant we went back to our - youve guessed it - local pub, the waverley, already visited by 30 + apostates to date.
