  Describe Your Spirituality

  most witnesses believe that if you leave the "truth" as taught by jehovah's witnesses, you lose your spirituality.

  i know some here that do not believe in god.

  others are somewhat agnostic.

  I have a new found desire, and hope, and understanding, and belief. I want to please God, and try to live my life the best I can, treating others like I want to be treated. I have not officially joined another church, don't know if I will.

  But I certainly believe that Jesus died for us, and that as long as we accept him, and believe in him, then we will be ok. From the discussions I have had with many Christian people, they all say that is all that is required. From what I read in the bible, it seems to be correct.

  Simple as that: Believe in Jesus, accept him as our savior, do our best, and we are done! No going to meetings, confessing to elders, going door to door.

  WHY NOT JAH’VE’S or YAHWEH’S WITNESSES?

  i used to find the overuse of gods name at the kingdom hall irritating.

  in particular, one brother must have used "jehovah" twenty-plus times whenever he said the opening or closing prayer to any meeting.. why did this bother me?

  two reasons: it is absolutely not the right way of saying gods name.

  I always have felt that using God's name was disrespectful. We have many types of people that demand respect, such as teachers, judges, law enforcement, etc. We call them sir, Mr., Your Honor, etc. We would never go into a courtroom and address the judge by his first name. Therefore, how the hell do the witnesses get off calling God by his name? Whether that is the correct pronounciation is not my point. I just believe calling him by His name is just plain disrespectful. I will not do so again. There are many other ways to address Him that show dignity.

  I would just prefer to error on the side of respect.

  Why Not Just Let It Go?

  i am fairly new to this board, but have been lurking for awhile before i decided to become a registered member.

  i have read many posts old and new and can't help but wonder why many of you just don't let it go?

  some of you have expressed bitterness and disgust over what the wts has done to you.

  There are many reasons that people are on this site. At the beginning, many wanted info on the WTS, or maybe to vent. Later, for some, it becomes a place you can talk to friends. Many posts have nothing to do with witnesses at all.

  I think that for many, they have gotten over the whole WTS situation. But, as mentioned above, some still have ties to the organization through no choice of their own. Perhaps relatives or friends are still in.

  For myself, I consider this a site where I can listen to others with a similar background. We can discuss many topics, and maybe I will learn a thing or two from interacting with others. Being that I too have some ties still with the organization (I have limited friends and family still in) I can gather information here that I would not have access to any other way.

  But, maybe the biggest thing to realize, is that many people had their lives destroyed by this cult, and we are to here to be someone to talk to. Nothing wrong with that.

  Human nature means that some will act more strongly than others. Some will vent more than others. Some people you will like, others you won't. Some you will agree with, others, you won't. Just enjoy the site for what it is. Nothing more, nothing less.

  Bad Doors in the field service

  As a pain in the ass as we must have been to many householders, I don't think that warranted violence towards us. Never had that happen to me, as mentioned above. Had someone punched me, I would have hit them back. That might have ended my career as a witness. :)

  A Faint Knock at the Door. Guess Who?

  this morning i heard a faint knock at my door.

  i answered it to find two nicely dressed young women who i knew had to be jws.

  they introduced themselves and offered me the latest magazines with the awake being the one being most prominent.

  Hi Everyone! I'm homeless now!

  i just arrived there yesterday afternoon where my bro-in-law dropped me off.

  my first night's sleep wasn't exactly eventful since there is no beds available and i have to sleep on the pews which my body doesn't exactly agree with hard wood and no cushion on it.

  so i didn't sleep very well.

  Attitude is everything!!

  Attitude is what is going to change your circumstances. It will affect who you meet, and what can result from that meeting.

  Sometimes it is hard, when things feel so rough. But, you must force yourself to change, and smile, and be confident. People can read the attitude that you put off, and if it is negative, they will know. So if you must, force it.

  Why the Iraqis BELIEVE......

  i find it very interesting listening to xjw's comments about the people of iraq and how we should just bomb their @$$es out of existence.. what mostly fascinates me is that we were just like the people of iraq at one time.

  we were willing to believe whatever the fds told us.

  and they told us some whoppers baby.

  I am one who believes that Saddam must be removed from power. Though there are those who will generalize and say "Blow them all up!", I do believe that they, along with others who support the war, are not after blowing up all the Iraqi's but are in favor of removing Saddam from power by either force or otherwise. This in fact might mean blowing Saddam himself "up."

  Most people have nothing against the normal Iraqi cititzen, and I agree, they only know what they have been told. The problem is with the terrorists, which some reside in Iraq, those in the military that poison their own people, who put innocent families around the weapons of mass destruction. The evil ones. That is who we have a problem with.

  Right now, as you read this, there are planes flying over Iraq with letters to the people, telling them we have no problem with them, it is their government. It is the US that will help rebuild that country when this is over.

  Are there a few idiots who really want to blow up the whole country? Sure, but at least they are in the minority and do not have the power to do so. But that is here in the US. Places that support terrorism, such as Iraq, however, do have those few idiots that have the power to blow up whole countries or soon will if we don't stop them, and that is what we are trying to do.

  a hell of a lot nicer than anyone else i knew.. and i'm only writing this because it's not really immodest because you don't know who i am.. i never went to the kh without some homebaked cake or cookies for the elderly ones, or a small gift for someone, or some cards telling someone how much i appreciated them.

  the more i disliked a person, the harder i would try to befriend them.

  There was so much talk about how loving the WTS organization was, and really, it wasn't. There were the exceptions, the ones like berylblue, but as a whole, I don't think there was any more "love" in the hall than anywhere else.

  I will go as far to say that there is less love in the KH than elsewhere. The hall was a place you had to go to, not because you wanted to, and you always had to look around and make sure that everyone else was following the rules or else you were supposed to report them.

  Do u feel u missed out being a JW Teen?

  do you feel that you missed out on the social part?emotional part?how do u feel your parents handled it?were they strict,let u do anything?

  Absolutely missed out. Missed high school sports, dating, school dances, friends that I could not have because they were not witnesses.

  It sucked. But I lived, and will not let it affect my future. They took the past........... but no more!
